"What do you mean, bailed?"
His words seemed like a cruel joke.
I don't have enough money to bail myself out, and I know for a fact that there's no one that will pay for me.So, when his next words come, I hold back a laugh.
"Your family," he laid the thick file on the table. "They bailed you out."
My amused face doesn't bother him, so I voice out my thoughts.
"I don't have a family. Is this some trick? To make me not get a lawyer? Because-"My next words die in my throat when the door gets pushed open again.
I inhale sharply in irritation.
I can feel the anger bubbling inside me when the officer doesn't even acknowledge my questions.Instead, he rises from his chair and hold his hand out for a handshake. "Ah, the Giordanos. Join us?"
Rolling my eyes at the sudden change of attitude, I looked over my shoulder.
I don't know exactly what I was expecting to see, but definitely not the two scariest looking men I've ever seen. And I definitely did not expect them to stare right into my soul.
They're tall, like easily playing basketball tall. I mean, I'm 5'8, and I still struggle, but not these dudes.
They look like businessmen from those TV shows, with a very expensive suit and a serious face.
And their features are almost identical, with dark hair and those dark green eyes that bore holes in me.
I guess they're brothers or something.I can't deny that they have a very intimidating aura around them.
What those stuck-up looking guys would want from me?And goddammit, their stares are making me want to punch them.
I raised my good eyebrow, not wanting to show them that something about them makes me uneasy.
That seemed to get them out of their trance.
The serious expressions morphed into shaken ones, like they've seen a ghost. When none of them accepted Joel's hand gesture, he pulled it back awkwardly, causing me to shift my gaze back to him.
"Who are the suits?" I exasperatedly asked, nodding my head towards the unknown men.
They looked at each other with a look I couldn't decipher and sat on the extra two plastic chairs next to Joel.
I looked at them amused.
It was quite a sight, with both looking way out of place. The chairs were too small, and their fancy suits didn't quite fit with the disgusting room we're in."They are your family, the ones that bailed you out." Joel said cautiously, glancing towards the men that didn't stop looking at me.
At his words, my head snapped back at them.
The younger offered me a small smile, almost like he was worried that the other one is scaring me.
