Liu'er's ears droop as he slinks away, nursing his wounded pride. Despite his bravado, the truth sinks in - he is no match for Sun Wukong.
But the wily macaque is not ready to give up his vendetta so easily. If direct confrontation has failed, he will have to resort to more cunning means to upend the pilgrimage.
Assuming the harmless guise of a peasant, Liu'er approaches Wujing as the disciples rest at a roadside inn. He spins a sob story about a fearsome monster plaguing his village, asking the kindhearted sand monk for aid. Ever merciful, Wujing agrees to follow Liu'er alone to the distant hamlet.
When Wukong and Bajie awake to find Wujing missing, panic ensues. But Liu'er has covered their tracks well. With no idea where to search for their lost companion, the two have no choice but to continue escorting Tripitaka westward.
Meanwhile, Liu'er reveals his devious trap, binding the helpless Wujing with enchanted rope. Donning the sand monk's robes as a disguise, the false Wujing rejoins the group, waiting for his chance to steal the sutras and slay the unsuspecting Wukong.
But Liu'er has underestimated the Great Sage's perceptiveness. Sensing something amiss, he sees through the macaque'slatest ruse and soundly thrashes the imposter. A disgraced Liu'er is banished back to the mountains, as the real Wujing is rescued and the pilgrimage continues.
Though foiled twice now, Liu'er's hatred and envy still burn strong. Licking his wounds, he begins plotting a new scheme - one that will require the darkest arts and most nefarious allies...
"Hey Stick, did you hear that?" The reddish monkey asks, looking in every corner of the place, below, above, and everywhere, but finds nothing, even when Stick points upwards with flashing red lights.
"Hey Stik, let me focus now. Maybe the Master is in danger," Wukong says, climbing up the stairs to check.
Pushing the pig.
"Hey Monkey, be more careful!" Zhu Bajie complains and passes through the same spot where the monkey was, feeling a certain gaze over his shoulders.
When he dares to look, he sees a familiar silhouette of a macaque.
"Shhh," the macaque signals him and in a blink, he's no longer there, like an illusion.
The pig rubs his eyes, and the demon is gone.
The monkey quickens his pace, and Stick hasn't spoken to him again, and Wukong doesn't know why his friend would be angry with him if he was hindering his search for danger.
But he's still going to try to apologize.
"Hey Bajie, did you see anything?"
...In a colorful flash, the Monkey King disappeared into the forest, following the staff's movements at lightning speed. His friend never failed him, and Wukong made a mistake not listening when he pointed out the darkness on the ceiling.
Zhu Bajie swallowed nervously and glanced around. "Do you really think he can find the six-eared macaque? What if it's an ambush?"
"Have faith in your brother, Zhu Bajie," Tripitaka said softly. "Wukong has never let us down before. He will return, and this conflict will end." The holy monk continued writing in his memoir notebook.
"I hope so." Zhu Bajie scratched behind his ear. "That other monkey gave me the creeps. Don't trust anyone who tells you to be quiet with a suspicious gesture and keeps watching you to find your weaknesses. Well, don't trust troublesome little monkeys!"
Sha Wujing rolled his eyes. "You've never said that before. Stop worrying: the master is right. Great Brother Sun will defeat the impostor and ensure our safety, as he has always done. He and his sacred staff make a great team."
"Hmph. Easy for you to say," Zhu Bajie muttered, but he fell silent and settled down on the wooden couch to rest.
...
"Stick, you found him! He wasn't far!!!" the monkey exclaimed in excitement, while the macaque continued cursing in another corner. "Shit, this isn't fair!"
"Hey, macaque! You thought you could escape so easily?" Wukong taunted as he approached the disgruntled macaque. "I found you, and now I'm gonna settle the score for sticking your nose in our business," the monkey said, eyeing the hooded figure while his staff started flashing intermittently. "And you owe Stick an apology, dammit!"
"Don't screw around with this asshole!!!" Liu'er growled through clenched teeth before glancing at Wukong.
"Calm down, calm down. Don't get involved with this idiot, he's not worth it!"
I really enjoyed this year's Monkey King movie.
I don't know, but I wanted to add another story to this beautiful movie, a fictional scenario. I couldn't resist. 🥹---
I find it really interesting to see how the monkey will fare with this other tricky macaque right here.By the way, it has nothing to do with Lego, so the Six-eared Macaque has some changes. I emphasize that it's not the same.
