"Hey, Peter-man!" Ned cheered excitedly as I walked through the school cafeteria doors, immediately waving at each other.

"Ned," I smile, relieved to see my best friend after a hell of a night. "What's up man?"

"Nothing much," He walks over to me and we immediately do our secret handshake, grinning at each other the whole time, "What about you, dude? You're looking pretty tired. Did you sleep last night?"

"Of course," I lie, rolling my eyes, "You know how important sleep is to me."

"Yeah, well, you also have the habit of staying up inventing new crazy things, so," Ned teasingly shoved my shoulder, causing me to roll my eyes again. "Speaking of, any new crazy things you're working on right now?"

"I'm all out of ideas," I sigh, lying. I'm actually currently working on a teleportation device; I'm not trying to get it to teleport me far, but I think it'd be so cool if I could teleport to the other side of the room during a battle, or even to right behind a target so that I can attack them from behind.

"Out of ideas?" Ned raises an unbelieving eyebrow, "Why do I find that hard to believe?"

"Ned," I say exhaustedly, prolonging the 'eh' sound in his name exaggeratedly, causing Ned to roll his eyes and sigh.

"Fine, I'll leave it for right now, but don't think I won't bring it up later," Ned accusingly points a finger toward me and shoves it against my chest playfully, "You can't hide things from me forever, young man."

"I'm older than you, idiot," I remarked, copying Ned and shoving my own finger into his chest, causing him to scoff.

"Only by three months," Ned argued, "You're practically younger than me at that point."

"That doesn't even make any sense," I let out a short laugh and rolled my eyes, a habit I do a lot when around my best friend apparently. "Maybe you need to be dropped a few grades."

"How rude," Ned playfully gasps, placing his hand on his chest in feign offense. "If I got dropped, what would you ever do?"

"Make new friends and replace you," I tease with a grin, watching as Ned's jaw drops.

"You, Peter Parker, make new friends?" Ned says thoughtfully before scoffing, "You're too awkward for that."

"That's nonsense and you know it," I argue even though I know that Ned is absolutely right. I haven't made a new friend, besides M.J, since first grade when Ned and I met.

"Mhm, right," Ned narrows his eyes at me, "We'll pretend that you're not the most awkward person in our grade if it makes you feel better."

"It's not pretending," I continue to deny, "It's facts."

"Mhm, sure, totally," Ned says with a laugh, "Whatever you say, Peter."

"Exactly," I agree with a smile before looking towards my watch to see the time, "Anyways, I've gotta go talk to a teacher, I'll see you later?"

"Aw man," Ned pouts before sighing, "Yeah, I'll see you later. Have fun!"

I wave to my best friend with a smile before turning around and immediately heading out of the cafeteria doors. Yes, I didn't eat, but I didn't bring money or food, so not much I can do about that.

Hopping up the stairs two at a time, I quickly ascend to the top and swiftly walk down the empty hallway, excited for once to talk to a teacher. Earlier this week there was a school announcement stating that there are spots open for a Stark Internship, and I sure as hell was going to hop on that chance. While I may have a slight grudge against Tony Stark, I can still acknowledge that he's absolutely amazing when it comes to tech development; he'd be an amazing person to work under and learn from.
