𝗕𝗔𝗡𝗚. Each day was a constant battle for Charlotte. The shouts of her brother and father would echo through their home walls. Charlotte didn't receive it as much as JJ did, she never knew why, maybe because JJ looked so much like their late mother who died during birth.

Charlotte and Jesse-James Maybank were born on the 12th of august, 2003. Jessica Maybank first gave birth to Charlotte. However, Jesse got stuck. He was the wrong way round and was struggling to come out which resulted in an emergency Caesarean section.

Jessica Maybank died that day due to loss of blood, hence why both twins hated their birthday. Luke always blamed it on JJ, since he was the one who apparently caused this mess. Yet, Charlotte never understood how a small baby in her mother's tummy could be the cause of her death.

Of course, not everything can work out. Luke already enjoyed alcohol, he enjoyed weed, all of that stuff, a typical man. But, after Jessica's death he switched. Taking care of two newborn babies alone wasn't easy. The twins were often left with their uncle to babysit, or their grandmother, who unfortunately passed in 2010.

Aside from Charlotte's home life, she enjoyed living. Constantly going out with her friends, surfing at the beach, behaving herself and doing what she could to be the perfect daughter. JJ wasn't like that. Quite the opposite.

CHAPTER ONE - PART 1: CHARLOTTE MAYBANK.

Let's start this off nice and simple. My name is Charlotte Maybank, and my twin brother is Jesse-James Maybank. Or, JJ as everyone calls him. You see, us Maybanks are quite well-known around the island.

JJ is a loose cannon, extremely aggressive, impulsive, and his friends don't benefit that. Especially one specific boy, my brothers bestfriend: John Booker Routledge.

John B is Big John's son, his dad disappeared at sea ,not quite sure where he went, probably dead by now. However, he seems like a nice boy, not nice enough for me to associate myself with him though.

Then there's Pope Heyward. He's Heyward's son, who owns 'Heywards seafood' and also delivers groceries to those on figure eight. Brainy, smart, practically the perfect guy. No idea why he was hanging around with my brother and John B.

And finally, the girl of the group. Kiara Carrera. She's actually a kook, not sure why she decided to live life as a pogue, it really isn't that fun. A bit bitchy, but aren't we all? I see her surfing a lot of the time down at the beach.

Then there's myself, Charlotte, Or Char, Charlie, Lottie, Maybank. I don't really hang with my brothers crew, they are too rowdy. Too annoying, is that horrible to say? I'm not sure. I like surfing, the beach, swimming, all of that classic island girl starter pack stuff.

I also love my dad, yeah, he's a shit dad. But I still love him. I know Jay does too, he just doesn't like to admit it.

Then, there's the Cameron family. The top dog, who almost all kooks love: Ward Cameron. Don't really speak to him, think it'd be a bit weird if he was speaking to a 16 year old girl..

And his son, or, one of my best friends. Rafe Cameron, bit of a weird name if you ask me. It's a little unusual for a Maybank and Cameron to be hanging around with eachother so, we do get some weird looks whilst we're out. We're nothing more than friends, but, of course, people like to start rumours. He's older than me, 19 and he's left school. Lucky guy. Also a big party animal, all into alcohol and sometimes coke or the other stuff.

Then, his younger sister : Sarah Cameron. One of the most beautiful and stuck up girls on the island. A daddy's girl, gets everything she wants. Oh, and her boyfriend, Topper, he follows her around like a lost dog.
