❝ 77 years after Aegon's conquest, Prince Valerion, the twelfth child of King Jaehaerys and Queen Alyssane and also their youngest son, was born. The queen, after a very difficult birth, was bedridden for six months, and the infant himself was extremely sickly. During the first four years of the prince's life, he was almost constantly surrounded by Maesters from different parts of the kingdom to keep him healthy and alive. Every day seemed like it could be the last day of the child's life, which is why he began to be referred to among his subjects as "The Living-Dead." The prince was close to death so many times that the king was ready to finally accept the news of his descendant's death. The happiness of Alyssane and Jaehaerys was impossible to describe when their son began to recover with slow steps, pulling death out of his grasp. Only then did they begin to show him in public, and the news spread throughout the kingdom. ❞

❝ [...] Despite his weakened body, the young prince showed a great desire to learn and mischief at the same time - to tempt him away from the troubles, teachers of sword fighting, archery and foreign languages were found for him to fill his day with activities. Regardless, the young boy's mind was mostly focused on one thing - the dragon, or rather the lack of one. The egg that was laid for him in the cradle never hatched, and as the years went by, the prince further failed to become a rider, which began to bother him more and more, as he felt inferior to the rest of his siblings, especially to his brothers, whom he so desperately wanted to match.

❝ [...] To this day no one knows how Valerion managed to accomplish this, certainly he must have been in the territory of Dragonstone at the time, where he met the wild Sheepstealer - the way in which he tamed him will rather forever remain a mystery, which does not change the fact that since then the young prince was most often seen on the back of the beast, with which he shared an incredible bond. ❞

When Valerion turned the age of twenty, rumors began to boil in the Kingdom about who he would marry - many said it would be, according to tradition, someone from his closest family, but to the surprise of many, there was a proposal of marriage between the daughter of the Lord of the Iron Islands, Tesha Greyjoy, and Valerion. Perhaps even more surprising was the marriage and the prince's later departure to his spouse's homeland, which seemed incorrect to many and led to even more rumors whispered among the people - the most common of which was that the prince left for the Islands because of a conflict between his father, which also seemed the most realistic cause.

Just over a year after Valerion and Tesha were married, their first and only child was born - a son, who was named Belon. Soon connections were found between the name given to the child to similarities between both the name of Valerian's older brother, Baelon, and the name worn by the kings of the Iron Islands years before Aegon's conquest, Balon. The newborn had valyrian origins at first look - the only thing that disagreed was his blue irises, similar in color to the ocean itself. ❞
