A/N: "better with you" by Virginia to Vegas  (Both 12yrs old)

Keefe's POV:

Jumping onto my bed, my face squishes against the pillow. Another terrible day has gone by, filled with hurtful looks and words. I love these dreams so much. They are wonderful and have been a blessing in my life. The only downside is that I can't see Foster when I am awake. I want to see her all the time, not just in dreams. To see her in real life would be the best thing ever. It would make me forget about my terrible home and remember that there are still good things out there. I just need to look for them.

I can't wait to hug her, be her best friend, and maybe pull off some pranks together. I'd love to teach her some of them, but not all. The best part will be that I get to spend every moment with her. It will be the absolute best! That day can't come soon enough. It feels like it's taking forever, but I just have to keep reminding myself that it will happen at the right time, and that it will be worth waiting for.

Life's been a little different lately since I've manifested as an Empath. It didn't surprise me. I figured this is what I was going to end up with. It's weird feeling Foster's emotions without touching her, but I'm glad that I can feel them now because it makes it a little easier to understand her and her feelings. She doesn't know I can feel them. I've wanted to tell her, but it never works. Guess there's only so much we can reveal in dreams. There are many things that I haven't been able to tell her because of it.

Opening my eyes, I am in a dream world. Looking around for Foster, I see her appear under a tree. Not a moment too soon, our song starts playing in piano form. Every night it changes, sometimes it's singing, violin, piano, or a music box or something special. I have no idea what any of those things are, but I somehow do, so I am just going along with it. These dreams tell you things.

"Hey Foster, so what's the plan for tonight?" I say once I reach her. She smiles at me. "Maybe we could estimate how we will meet each other. I have a hunch it's going to happen soon."

"I do too. Not sure why either. Probably means we are getting close. I am so excited and sad at the same time since these dreams will end once we do meet," I say, excited and sad at the same time.

"Yeah, it's a bummer, but the good part is these can start up again once we sing our lullaby to each other and discover who we are," Foster reminds me.

"Right, I forgot we will be able to do that. Cause I don't think I want to lose this magical place," I told her, filled with relief. This place is my only escape from my parents, aside from school, but that doesn't count because Foster isn't there with me. But maybe she will be soon, I don't know. I still find it very strange that I have never seen someone like her in the Lost Cities before. Yet again, I do forget we won't recognize each other unless the lullaby is sung, then we get our memories of meeting each other.

They will stay with us for the rest of our lives.

The good news is that we won't be totally lost. After the dreams end, we will be able to have a secret way of communicating with each other, so we won't be totally lost. Which I am thankful for.

"Hmmm. Got any ideas on how it will happen?" She asks me.

"Maybe when you do see me, you'll be like 'whoa he's cute,'" I say, smirking at her.

"Hilarious Keefe. Maybe it will go like something simple, I guess; I am not sure. How about this, we could come up with ideas on what we will do after we discover each other."

"Yeah, I like that idea better. Cause I have already come up with a few ideas on what I want to do," I told her. "Like what?" Foster asks curiously.

"Well for one, I won't bring you to my home because my so-called parents are terrible, and I refuse to talk to them. But I think I might let you in on some pranks that I have planned for some of my friends," she laughs. "Really! Are you some prank master or something?"
