"How could you do this to us? I thought we were something special!! You just threw it all away for a stupid cat! Do you even know how that feels?!?! Do you even care about us? It doesn't feel like you do. You know what you did. You know you did it. No...it wasn't you...it was me. It was me that didn't see that. I didn't care about Marshall in that moment. I just threw it all away. I threw it away. Me alone, by myself, no other instigators. Why must everything I love always...."
"Ahhhhhh!!!," Rocky screams as he wakes up in shock. He's drenched in sweat and breathing heavily. Once again, another nightmare has work the mix breed from his slumber. Just once he wished that the things he loved he wouldn't screw up. Just like what happened with... "No, not yet!!! That's a story for another time," Rocky says before he sighs, addressing the writer of this story. Oh okay, well anyways, Rocky pulls the covers off himself. He knows there is now way of getting back to sleep now.
As he pondered on that, a certain chocolate lab had awoken as well. He stretched out his body completely, keeping the pose for 20 seconds, then releasing it and collapsing on his bed. "Hehe that was a great stretch. My yoga is paying off, yippee!! Ahhh, how good it feels to accomplish a new skill," Zuma says to himself as he hops off his bed.
The lab then walks out of his doghouse into the moonlight. A full moon is out and a peeking out from the east, meaning the night has just begun. This excites Zuma as he smiles. "Ah...the crisp night air is so great here. Makes you feel comforted and at home. Now, what to do on this fine night," Zuma ponders to himself. Just as he was thinking, he looks at one of the hills that looks over the Lookout and sees Rocky off in the distance just staring at the stars. "Oh dear, not again."
Rocky is sitting by himself, staring out at the night sky. He's not thinking of much, just pondering the endless sea of stars and the vast nothingness or potential of something being out there. He's in a bad state of mind as Zuma walks up to him and looks at the sky too. "How are you feeling my friend?" The lab asks calmly. "I don't know," Rocky says as he keeps staring up at the stars. "Rocky..." Zuma says before he sighs. Rocky doesn't respond as he keeps staring into space, literally. Zuma just stays beside Rocky, making sure not to make contact with him as he can tell he doesn't want it at all right now.
After waiting a few minutes, Zuma finally breaks the silence of the night. "Rocky...you can't keep doing this. Every night since Marshall ran away, you come out here and just stare into space. Your time will come to apologize, but spacing out and isn't...," Zuma is stopped by a really hard slap to the face. "Now listen here Mr. I know it all. You have no fucking clue what I am going through. Furthermore, if you actually cared for me you wouldn't open your mouth so much," Rocky says sternly and firmly, rage painted over his face. Zuma doesn't tear up as he knows anger and denial are a huge part of grief. He stands back up on all fours and gets in Rocky's face.
"If that's how you wanna be, then so be it. Why keep helping you if you're not even gonna listen to me. Not worth it in my opinion. Have a good night, Rocky," Zuma says before backing off, turning away, and walking back to his doghouse before slamming the door shut. Thankfully the other dogs on the team are in deep sleep in their doghouses cause they would've heard Zuma's door slam shut. Lord knows Rocky heard it and he just scoffed at it. "What an ass Zuma can be. Here I am suffering and he takes my suffering and spins it on its head like some kind of twist top," The Mix Breed says as he looks out to the endless space again.
