~kai's pov~
I woke up more energy than last night. My body was cold. I saw jay asleep on the floor. I stood up got went to his side. I got down on my knees, layed down, and scooted next to him. I thought i had energy but guess not because i fell back asleep after a few minutes.
i woke up again when the sun was high. When i noticed jay wasn't next to me and my anxiety took over. Did he abandon me? Did he die? There were too many petrifying possibilities. I ran to the window. Jay was standing on a rock shirtless fishing. I let out the breath i'd been holding in my throat.
i went outside and waved to jay. He waved back just as he caught a fish. He reeled it in and put it in a net. I sat down in the sand and brushed the hair out of my eyes as jay tripped off the rock and fell into the water. I layed back laughing like like an idiot.
~jay's pov~
I woke with my head pounding and my arm asleep from laying on it for too long. It was sunrise and kai was sleeping next to me peacefully. that was when i realized he needed someone's sweet touch. I knew he couldn't be left on his own and needed to be taken care of. I went out the door and sat in the sand, waiting for the sun to rise so i could catch fish in daylight.
I went back to the house to check on kai who's eyes were still closed and face squished on his pillow, drool coming from his open mouth. I smiled. "cute" i thought. I grabbed my fishing rod and went back outside.
The sun had risen and the fish were as lively as ever. My first, second, and third try i caught nothing. On the fourth try i caught a sunfish. I let it go because i don't like the taste of sunfish. On my fifth try i got a tuna and put it in the net i had sitting below me on the rock. I carefully slit the fish's scaly neck so it wouldn't find it's way back to the water.
i saw kai come out of the house and waved at me. I waved back i caught another tuna. I tripped while i was cutting it's neck and fell backwards into the water. When i came back up kai was rolling in the sand laughing his head off at me.
~kai's pov~
jay came out of the water soaked from head to toe. I sat back up and a smile grazed my lips. Jay was laughing, his eyes sparkling. He sat down next to me and started a conversation.
"so, how'd you end up on that boat?" he asked me with a confused looked on his face.
"my aunt and uncle sent me away."
He looked back at the sea as if he were trying to understand.
"what about your parents?" he asked slowly. I knew he didn't want to force me into it but i just stared at the water and confessed.
"my parents didn't want me so they gave me away to my aunt and uncle. They treated me like i was some horrible person. They were always fighting and had no children, saying one was enough. They were both alcoholics and did drugs." i said quietly remembering all the painful memories, "they hit and yelled at me everyday. They didn't care if i needed a hospital. When my aunt and uncle sent me away they said my parents died and that they didn't want either." i was holding my legs to my chest and my head on knees. Tears were welling up in my eyes until i couldn't hold them any longer.
~jay's pov~
I sloshed through the water laughing. Kai was smiling up at me. I finally got to the shore and sat next to him. I started wondering how he even ended up on a boat floating toward my island.
"so, how'd you end up on that boat?" i asked.
He hesitated but said, "my aunt and uncle sent me away."
I looked back at the sea and thought about what he said.
"what about your parents?"
He was quiet for moment then said "my parent didn't want so they gave me away to my aunt and uncle. They treated me like i was some horrible person. when he finished he'd curled up in a ball, his head on his knees. He shaking and that was when i knew he crying. I pulled him into a hug. He immediately wrapped his arms around me and let all his pain stream out.
