I walked to Jades house without even thinking it through. The warm air blew a gentle breeze through my hair occasionally. Jade lived about 20 minutes from my house, walking. Driving on the other hand would have taken about 5. I have no idea why I didn't take my car.
When I finally reached Jades house my body was physically exhausted. I was already emotionally drained but the walk kicked my butt.
I knocked on the door weakly. A couple moments passed by before the door opened. On the other side of the door was, Abigail, Jades mother.
"Phoenix, honey. What a surprise! Are you okay?" She asked. She stepped off to the side, giving me room to enter.
"No, I'm not. Is Jade home?" I muttered.
"Yeah, she is. She's upstairs, you know the way," Abigail smiled sadly.
"Thanks," I sniffed.
"Is there anything I can get you?" She asked before Ieft.
"No, I think I'm okay," I whispered. Another round of tears were coming on when I saw how motherly she was. She reminded me of the mom I once had. I quickly walked out of the living room and ran up the stairs.
Jades room was the third door on the left. I pushed the door open and laid down on her bed.
"Phoenix! What surprise," Jade exclaimed. She was hanging up laundry in her closet. But her happiness quickly died down when she saw my unstable state.
I grabbed her pillow and hugged it to my chest and face. "He didn't want to fight for me," I cried.
She sat down on the bed next to me.
"What are you talking about?" She asked confused.
I suddenly realized that I hadn't told Jade about Jason attacking me. She had no idea what happened between Ace and I. What kind of a friend was I?
"Oh my god. I completely forgot to tell you," I whispered, ashamed of myself.
"Tell me what?" Jade demanded.
So I took a deep breath and dove into the story of Ace and I. Throughout the story, I was having mixed emotions. At some parts I was crying, and at others I was smiling. When I got to the part about Ace telling me we were never meant to be together, it was like a new wound cut open.
"He said it was probably a mistake that we ever met and that we weren't meant to be together," I cried.
"What a douche bag," Jade whispered. Throughout the story we had changed positions. We were currently laying next to each other, like Ace and I were this morning.
"He just decided to stop fighting. After he saved me those two times, I seriously thought he wasn't going to leave," I whispered.
"I understand why you're upset about the Ace thing, but can we change subjects real quick? Shouldn't you just turn in Jason for threatening you?" She asked.
"His dad bailed him out of jail for holding a knife to my neck and threatening to kill me. I'm sure his dad could bail him out for 'stalking'," I replied.
"But Jason is going to leave you alone as long as you stay away from Ace?"
"Yeah, at least that's what he said. I mean, I could put a restraining order against him but I need proof. And then Ace and I could be together but he obviously doesn't want that. And I'm not going to be that ridiculously clingy girl either," I declared.
"Well good for you, knowing what you want. But I don't think you should give up on Ace. At one point he obviously cared for you. He saved you from Jason twice, and feelings just don't disappear," Jade said, sounding like she was talking to herself.
