5. A paradox of secrets...

yibo is standing in the corridors of wei mansion in the dead of the night, where he's been just found out that the white cloth he's been chasing all along is... yuan!

'yuan! what is he doing here?! wait, is he... walking?' thinks yibo.

shock and disbelief cloud his mind. he cannot believe what he's seeing!

'this can't be happening...' thinks yibo.

he cautiously approach yuan, who is standing so still.

"yuan?" called out yibo.

he softly call out to him in a whisper.

'he doesn't seem to have heard me.' thinks yibo.

he gently grab his arms and shake him.

"yuan? yuan??" asked yibo.

suddenly, yuan grabs yibo by the collar of his nightwear.

yuan pushes him but he's able to hold himself from falling. he grab yuan but yuan begins to wrestle him and beat him wildly.

"yuan?! yuan, what are y...?!" chocked yibo.

"yibo! leave my family alone!" shouted yuan.

yuan continues to hit yibo mercilessly but yibo grab his hands roughly as he scuffle with him.

'what is wrong with him?! he is hurting me. where did he get his strength though?' thinks yibo.

he grab yuan's hands roughly as he continue his scuffle with yuan.

he suddenly feel a swish of silk behind him. he turn around.

"lu!" said yibo.

"yuan!" said lu.

lu quickly rushes into the scene.

"Mr. yibo!" said lu.

"what is happening with your brother?!" asked yibo.

lu immediately begins to shout at yuan to stop hitting yibo.

"yuan?! yuan, stop!" said lu.

she wrestles yuan from behind in an attempt to stop his wild tantrum and both their voice fill the silent corridors. suddenly, yuan goes quiet and slumps.

"is he okay?" asked yibo.

"yes, he is fine. he is still asleep." said lu.

yibo try to gain composure, before carrying the sleeping boy in his arms.

"come on, let's get you back to your beds." said yibo.

he tuck both children in bed. he then turn to lu.

"lu, what was that? i thought yuan was not able to walk but..." said yibo.

she doesn't respond but just turns her back to him.

'perhaps, she doesn't want to talk right now.' thinks yibo.

"do you want me to stay?" asked yibo.

she still doesn't answer him.

"okay... i'll be going then. but you know where to find me if you need me. goodnight, lu." said yibo.

he leave the children's bedroom full of doubt in his heart.

'this is so weird. how could i possibly sleep with this unsolved mystery? zhan must know something about this. i'm not supposed to be out of my room by night but i need to talk to him right now.' thinks yibo.

he finally decide to go and find zhan.

he's just reached zhan's cottage. it's the middle of the night and the whole compound of wei mansion is eerily silent.
