Amane was "the sick kid", and he hated it. He didn't hate being chronically ill. He didn't hate that he was losing more and more independence. He didn't hate how he had to rely on forearm crutches to get around. He hated one thing about it, and one thing only. The way he was treated. People treated him like he was fragile. Others would act like he was contagious, despite his leg weakness being the result of genetics. Everyone treated him differently. Everyone except one person, Yashiro. She was the only person he had met who treated him like he was a normal person. Because he was. He was a normal person, but no one else seemed to acknowledge that.
He had been sitting in class not really paying attention to what the teacher was saying, when the words "Space Museum." entered his ears. Suddenly, the usually dazed off student was paying the most attention out of his classmates. "You will be paired up with another student for this trip. I'm allowing you to choose who you want to be paired with. Don't make me regret allowing you to do so." The teacher continued. "Amane, you will get more time to look around. Since you walk slower than the other students." Amane felt every head in the classroom turn to stare at him. He slowly sunk down in his chair. This was just another reminder that he was treated differently. Class was almost over, and the other students had begun to pair up. "Amane!" A voice called from across the classroom. It was Yashiro. "Let's be partners!" She exclaimed, walking over to his desk. Amane smiled. "Yeah!" He agreed. He began putting his stuff in his bag, and she just watched. He liked that, normally people would've taken the books from his hand, insisting on doing it for him. Not Yashiro, she let him do it himself, because that's what he wants.

The doors to the museum were huge. A giant mural of space painted on the doors. Amane stood staring, entranced by the size of the building. "Woah." Yashiro whispered from beside him, saying exactly what he was thinking. "I know! Isn't it amazing? Think of all the exhibits in there!" Amane exclaimed turning to her. She chuckled. "I forgot how much you loved space." He laughed at her. "How could you forget?" He questioned. "I feel like that's all I talk about." She didn't have an excuse. The two of them walked through the doors. The entire lobby had small shiny rocks throughout the walls meant to mimic stars. Hanging from the ceiling was a model of the solar system. Everything about it was perfect in Amane's eyes. To be fair, that was probably because the entire place was space themed. "Hey Amane, I saw on their website that they have wheelchairs you could check out." Yashiro offered. "Oh, thanks but I'm good." He declined. She stared at him perplex. "Really? Cause I think you should." She explained. "Really. I'll be fine. Promise." "Ok, fine. But I'm not catching you if you fall." She partially joked. Amane laughed at her joke, but she was right. He should check out a wheelchair for this trip. It was going to be a lot of walking, which only made his legs weaker. But he knew what would happen if the other students saw him in one. They'd treat him like he was even more fragile than they already saw him. That, and if Tsukasa saw him, he'd probably insist on hitching a ride in it. Amane really wanted to enjoy this trip without worrying about his younger twin's antics.
They had only been ten minutes into looking around, and Amane could already feel his legs getting weaker. He looked at Yashiro in hopes that she couldn't tell. She didn't seem to notice. Sighing softly in relief he stopped to take in the exhibit. "Amane! Look!" Yashiro exclaimed from next to him. Pointing at the wall, he noticed there was a painting of the Earth, and all the way at the end of the wall was a painting of the moon. Running to the end, where the moon was, Yashiro called out "Woah! You're so far! Is the moon really that far away?" "Yep! It's 380,000 kilometers away!" He explained, slowly walking over to where she was standing. He was going slower than usual, the usually mild pain in his legs was slowly amplifying. Amane silently prayed that Yashiro was still oblivious to his worsening condition. "That... that was farther than I thought." He mumbled to himself once he finally reached Yashiro. The rest of the exhibits consisted mostly of different solar systems and space travel. Amane loved all of them. Yashiro also enjoyed them, but what she really enjoyed was seeing how happy Amane was. To be honest, she couldn't remember the last time she saw him this happy. Either way, she was happy to see him like this. Turning the corner, they faced a door that simply said "Exhibit."

The room was completely dark save for small dull lights scattered throughout the room meant to emulate stars. "What's the point of having a whole other room if you can barely see anything?" Yashiro questioned, looking around trying to make out what was in the room. "Beats me." Amane responded. As soon as he said that his legs gave out. "Yep, was waiting for that to happen." Yashiro commented, sitting down next to him. Amane stared at her. So, she could tell? Of course, she could. What was he thinking? They had been best friends for as long as he could remember. She could almost always tell when his symptoms were getting worse, sometimes even before he could. If she could tell, why didn't she say anything? Then it hit him. Yashiro knew how much he hated when others didn't listen to him when he said he was fine. She trusted that he was able to manage his own symptoms. Realizing that, he simply smiled and leaned back against the platform he had collapsed in front of. "So," Yashiro said turning to him. "Since there's nothing here, do you want to go back to the lobby? I'm sure that everyone else is done, and Tsuchigomori told us to go back their when we're done." She asked. "Nah. I wanna sit here for a little bit longer. Besides, my legs are still weaker than usual." Amane declined. Although what he said was true, the real reason he didn't want to go back was because he enjoyed being alone with her. Infact, he would be perfectly content just sitting in complete silence doing nothing. As long as he's with her.
Ten minutes of pure silence passed. The only sound coming from them was from Amane repeatedly picking at the space-themed stickers on his crutches. "So, did you enjoy the museum?" Yashiro asked, finally breaking the silence. His face lit up. "It was amazing!" Yashiro smiled, and moved so she was sitting in front of him. If there was one thing she enjoyed, it was listening to Amane ramble about space. Or anything for that matter. Amane loved space, and Yashiro loved listening to him ramble about it. Even if she didn't really understand half of what he was saying. Yashiro sat there nodding, pretending to have any clue what any of those big sciencey words Amane used met.
On the platform behind them, a large model moon illuminated. It wasn't bright enough to light up the whole room, but it did illuminate their faces making them realize how close they were to each other. Suddenly Amane was silent. "You're beautiful." "Thank you!" Yashiro smiled. Did he really just say that out loud? Oh God, what will she think? Amane had liked Yashiro since they met as kids, but he couldn't tell her that. After all, she was so incredibly beautiful, and kind, and awesome. And he was just, well him. Amane stared at her, silently praying that his cheeks weren't as red as he felt they were. He felt two hands on his. "Thank you for saying that. To be honest, I think you look really pretty." Yashiro told him, holding is hand in-between hers. Suddenly, he moved without thinking, his lips pressed softly against hers. He slowly pulled away. "OH MY GOD YASHIRO, I'M SO SORRY" He apologized, realizing what he just done. "I don't know what came over me. I mean I've liked you for as long as I can remember. But that is no excuse to just kiss you. I'm so-" His ability to ramble was impaired by a pair of lips pressed against his. His eyes closed, and he felt himself melt into the kiss. It was nothing like he had imagined, but it was still perfect. The way her hands cupped his face. How soft her lips were. The way he could smell her strawberry scented shampoo. Every bit of it was magical. "For the record." She said, pulling away. "I like you too."
