68 days into the apocalypse.
We've found a car.
Yup, that's the highlight of today. We found a car, well a pickup truck to be more specific.
I don't know what happened to the original owners of this truck, but having seen the blood stains on the dashboard and seats, I don't think it was anything pleasant.
Now, I can't emphasize what finding this truck means for us. So far throughout our journey, the only very few vehicles we encountered were wrecked beyond use. The Ford super duty pickup truck we came across today, though, was mostly intact. No broken axle, no damaged transmission, no frame crushed beyond usable condition, and more importantly, no Plagued sneaking around waiting to jump on us when our back is turned.
Getting jumped by an undead corpse in that police car was a bad enough experience. I'd rather not go through it again.
I think it's also worth mentioning how we ourselves are, after the events that have transpired a week ago.
James, he has returned to his regular self. Well, mostly. He's a tad bit more 'jumpy' these days. Anything startles him, his hand will be clutching on his guns. Can't blame him though. After what we went through at the Sedgwig household, I'd want to stay sharp for any dangers too.
I myself haven't been any better than James. Though, I've noticed that my sense of humor is all but gone now. After what I've seen at Billy's camp and the Sedgwig household, being less funny isn't a concern for me.
Natalie though, is probably the one the most affected amongst us. She and David were close, no doubt. But perhaps, they were closer than I thought, prominent by the fact that she kissed him before we left him. She has kinda closed off. Doesn't talk much, and like James has gotten more jumpy.
Anyway, for now, we are focusing on getting this car back into business. Which means, scavenging for fuel, since the gasoline in its fuel tank is already two quarters way towards going bad. The frame is a bit beat up, but not too bad. Though, not sure about how the tires are doing.
It's a fourth generation model probably, and comes with a 4 door cab. Plenty of room for all three of us. Once we get this thing running, it will be only a few hours, maybe a day at max journey to Atlantic city.
Based on how fast we find fuel, we will be out of here in a few days.
Hopefully, the rest of our journey goes without anymore hazards.
