Sky Breeze

 They stood at the top

With nothing but each other

And the high blue sky

She looked upward and said

"The sky is so vast."

"Bigger than all of me."

He leaned close to her

And he whispered

He said: "You are my sky."

She drew back

Afraid of what this could mean.

Afraid he would be disgraced. 

They could not be close

And she told him so.

He laughed while he spread his arms out and said

"Who can tell us what to do

When we are all the way

Up here?"

He took off the mask

That separated her

From the world.

And he held her close

Under the clear sky.

She was afraid for him.

But also happier than

She had ever been.

She loved him deeply.

Deeper than that high blue sky.

And she told him so.

Even though that love

Cost him

His dreams.

That which he had lost

So much for

That which changed him

Forever.

"The cost of a pure love is high."

She thought as they

stood high up

Blanketed by an infinite sky.

Looking down at the world

Which seemed so very small.

And they sang.

Their song was silent.

It had no words.

It was a melody that stayed

In only their joined hearts.

Driven by the thrum

Of their beating hearts.

The melody was soft.

And when they sang it

Early in the morning

As they drank their tea

Or

Late at night

As they sat side by side

And recounted the day:

Joys and hardships

When they sang it

They were always reminded

Of that 

High

Deep

Blue 

Sky.
