Sophie
Sophie sighed, and pulled her earbuds out, "What?" Amy excitedly pointed out the window, A big green sign read Welcome To San Clemente. Sophie was actually excited to move to a new town, and have a fresh start. Maybe if she acted normal, even let her grades drop a little, she'd fit in. "This year I won't be a teacher's pet," Sophie whispered to herself, relieving the memories of her old classmates. "what?" Amy said, still staring out the window at the sunny beach, palm trees, and clear blue sky. "nothing," Sophie said hurriedly, none of her family knew that she used to be bullied at school for being so smart, and she intended to keep it that way.
After a while of driving her dad parked their car in front of a big house with a villa tile roof and beige concrete walls. Sophie grabbed her suitcase that had her main belongings, the most important of which was Ella. She entered the house and glanced around, It was way bigger than her last house. She was surprised to see the house already set up with furniture and decorations. "Dad, are you sure this is the right address?" She called. Her dad jogged into the house, "Yep, It's pretty nice, I paid a company to move everything before we got here, your room is upstairs down the hall, last door on the right." Sophie ran upstairs and opened the door to her room with a gasp.
She had a wooden canopy bed with dark grey comforters and pillows. The space above her bed had this weird straw sun thing. The wall across from the door was lined with floor-to-ceiling windows that she could see the ocean from. The walls were white and the floors were a grayish-brown wood with a white rug under the bed. Two hammock chairs hung in the lower left corner with a TV and bookshelf. The upper right corner had a white desk with a picture of her with her family on it along with a laptop for school. Next to the desk was a door that led off into a walk-in closet that led into her own personal bathroom.
Sophie explored the room and found out that there was a latch in the floor that had a slide to a secret room with games and extra beds along with a kitchen, she also found out Amy's room had the same latch. She was just inspecting a mirror that opened into a small closet that you could see out of but the person on the outside couldn't see in when Amy slid down her slide and landed on the ground with an "Oof!". "Isn't this place the best?!" Amy gushed, "I keep finding more and more cool things and my bedroom is giant!" Sophie smiled, "I bet it's not as big as mine!" "Come see it!" Amy insisted, climbing back up her slide, Sophie followed and found out that Amy's room was indeed bigger. It didn't have windows that looked out into the ocean though. Amy showed Sophie a little room that was labeled "Amy's Gaming Room." "Isn't it amazing?!" Amy asked, "And my room is definitely bigger!" Sophie shrugged, "But I get a view of the ocean." Amy pointed out her windows that showed the backyard that was huge and had a pool, "But I get to see our pool and our neighbors!" She elbowed her and pointed at a boy with messy blonde hair who had his shirt off, he was currently filling up a bucket of water with a hose.
"He looks around your age," Amy whispered. Sophie rolled her eyes as she watched the boy set up the bucket of water over the front patio that had some elegant furniture, "He looks like a troublemaker." The girls continued to watch him as he hid behind the side of the house with a rope connected to the bucket. Amy quietly cracked open the window so they could hear. A lady with blonde hair twisted up into an elegant bun and a simple white sun dress stepped out of the house. "Uh oh," Amy giggled, as the lady stopped to sort through her purse right under the bucket of water. The boy yanked the string and the bucket of water spilled on top of the lady's head. After a few seconds of gasping, she shrieked "KEEFE SENCEN! YOUR FATHER WILL HEAR ABOUT THIS!" The boy, Keefe, tiptoed around the house so the girls couldn't see him anymore. Amy giggled, shutting the window, "he's funny!" Sophie was more worried about him being her neighbor, Would she be pranked too?
Sophie washed up for dinner and entered the modern kitchen. "We're having tacos!" Her dad said, "Come sit down Soybean!" Sophie groaned, she hated that nickname. "SOYBEAN! SOYBEAN!" Amy shouted in an effort to annoy her. "The neighbor brought cookies over," Her mom said, "You can have one after dinner." Sophie thought of the elegant lady, and couldn't imagine her being so welcoming. "His name was Mr.Forkle, he lives a couple of houses down to the right." Amy gobbled down her taco and snatched a cookie. "MMM!" She sighed, "Butterscotch!" Sophie ate her taco and then tried a cookie. It was still warm and the butterscotch chips melted on her tongue. "Mmmm," She sighed, "You should ask him for the recipe Mom." Her mom nodded, "I will, I ate one earlier, and they were very tasty." "How come you had a cookie before dinner but we didn't?" Amy asked. "Are you ready for school tomorrow?" Her dad asked, swooping in and changing the subject.
Sophie groaned, in her excitement she had forgotten all about school. "I can't wait!" Amy replied, happily grabbing another cookie. "What about you, Sophie?" Her mom asked, taking away the cookie from Amy and returning it to the plate. "I'm a little nervous," Sophie admitted. Amy snatched the cookie again, "That's because last time you were just a loner, and had no friends!" Sophie's mom grabbed the plate of cookies, "Amy!" Amy shrugged, stuffing the cookie in her mouth, "Just telling the truth." Except it came out like "chus selling the tru!" Sophie rolled her eyes, "Yeah, well this time is different, I'm going to get ready for bed." And she headed upstairs, telling herself it really was going to be different.
