Finally, a doctor comes into the waiting room.
"Mr. Lambert..."
Adam immediately looks up at the doctor, the concern and worry still as clear as a crystal in his eyes. Ashley also looks up at the doctor. The doctor opens his mouth to say something, but is interrupted by Adam.
"Doc, please. Before you get into detail, just tell me Tommy is alive. Please, doc." Adam pleads, sounding desperate to know his bassist's condition.
"He's alive and is expected to make a full recovery." The doc says with a slight smile.
"Oh, thank God." Adam says, releasing a breath he didn't even know he was holding in.
"Mr. Ratliff is very lucky, sir. Most people who get shot in the heart don't survive and are killed almost instantly. Mr. Ratliff had an 8% chance of survival but still managed to make it." The doctor claims.
"There won't be any side effects that are too bad...will there...?" Adam asks, almost sounding nervous to ask the question.
"Surprisingly, no. It might leave a scar, but he won't have any sort of heart problems." The doctor states.
"Is it okay if I...see him...?" Adam asks, still sounding nervous and hesitant.
"Of course. He's in room 209. He's unconscious, but we figure he'll wake up in a few hours." The doctor says with a smile.
"Thank you, doctor." Adam says as the doctor walks out of the room. Ashley looks at Adam with a smile.
"Well? Go see your boyfriend~" Ashley teases with a knowing smirk. Adam blushes a little and clears his throat.
"We're not dating." Adam says, slight sadness in his tone.
"Ooh, but you wish you were." Ashley says, still smirking. Adam looks at the floor and lets out a soft groan, knowing damn straight Ashley is right.
"I'm going to go see Tommy." Adam says as he stands up and walks out of the waiting room. Adam starts walking down the long hallway that seems like it goes on forever. Finally, Adam sees a room with a sign on it. The sign reads:
Room 209 - Thomas Joseph Ratliff
Adam takes a big inhale and straightens his outfit. Adam's hand reaches out and turns the doorknob as he slowly opens the door.
To be continued...
