Sophie wished she could have stayed in this bubble with Liam forever but she couldn't. Bigger picture. This place wouldn't be here forever. No matter how real it felt it wasn't. And just as suddenly as it had materialised it would dissappear...this reality would be gone. Along with everything she experienced and cared for...Liam. She shivered. She was getting too close. This was really for the best.
She currently stood on the platform at Manchester Picadilly waiting on the train back to London. She'd said goodbye to the guys and Liam. They had one last show in their hometown tonight but she had to go back and face the music. She had made Liam promise not to make her any promises and that if he ever found himself back in London he knew where to find her. She purposefully kept it casual. She was practicing at being indifferent. It would be daft to say you depended on someone after one week. Completely daft. Insane even. Sophie exhaled shakily watching her breath cloud on the platform. Her jumper still smelled like Liam's cigarettes and skin. Oh Liam.
Liam looked up at the rainclouds seeing a single planet shining bright and constant through a small break. He smiled as he thought about the shooting star he'd wished on with Sophie. Sophie. He sighed as his chest ached with a hollow sadness he hadn't ever known before at her absence. Their parting was formal. Distant even. Liam could feel her pulling away. Why? He checked his watch. Her train hadn't left yet. There was time.
He looked at Noel and Noel frowned before sighing and shaking his head.
"You can't go after a bird you've known for a week. No. Fucking no. We're on in an hour!" Said Noel in complete disbelief.
Liam smiled he liked that some sort of strange telepathy existed between himself and Noel even though they were opposites in many ways.
"And I'll be back in time I just need to-"
"Need to what?! She's got a fucking job Liam. A real grown up job. She's 30. And you're...a kid. She's just having a bit of fun with ye before she gets married that's all. She's a nice bird and that but Liam...don't. Don't do this. Why are you always like this?" Said Noel seriously.
Liam felt Noel's honest words pierce through his hollow chest. He was right of course. But he felt angry now. It annoyed him how Noel could always remain so cool and practical about things most of the time.
"I know that! Look I know I'm a fuxking idiot who always ends up in way too deep with some bird but I'd rather open my heart to every bird than shut it off to everyone like you."
Noel actually looked very hurt and unsure for a millisecond but he recovered quick. He sparked up a cigarette and shrugged distancing himself from Liam once more.
"If you're not back by stage time you're out." He said evenly. His voice low and devoid of emotion.
Liam scoffed.
"Are you for real you stupid fucking prick?! This is my band! I invited you in!" He said poking him roughly in the chest.
Noel held his gaze. Burning cobalt flames of hurt and rage sparked between them.
"There is no yours now. You invited me in yeah. But it's my signature on that record contract. My songs you're up there singing. So who's the stupid fucking prick now?" He said darkly never losing his cool once.
Liam turned from Noel and punched the wall to save him punching his face. That controlling bastard. He heard a crack and felt pain radiate all through his hand as his knuckles burst open. He felt the hot blood gush over his fingers feeling a small release of his pent up fury and hurt. He'd needed Noel first but as always Noel knew exactly the most hurtful thing to say at any one time. He always won. He jogged quickly to the train station clutching his hand and not looking back once.
