To Love Again

Just Another Day

As I was staring blankly at the window, wondering how I will get through this day, mom burst inside the room.

"Baby, are you up?" mom said.

I did not answer her. I was lost in my thoughts.

"Baby?", called mom, "Aren't you going to talk to me? Is there something wrong?"

I faced her.
Her eyes widened; I don't know why.

"What happened?" mom said as she came up to me.
"What? Nothing." I plainly said.
"I don't think so. Why do you have black circles under your eyes, huh?" she asked.
"I... Uh, I did not sleep well last night. That's all." I answered.
"Why? Sunny, I know you, what is the problem baby?" she asked with those worried eyes.

I stared at her for a few seconds then looked at the clock behind her.

"I'll tell you about it later, mom. We'll be late." I said then I walked pass her.

She did not protest or something. She knew me. If I don't want to talk about something, there's no use to insist asking me about it.

Everything is going quite fine when someone suddenly shouted my name. I failed to realize whose voice it was so I was hoping that it wasn't him.
I faced the direction where I heard the voice, and luckily it wasn't him.

"Good morning, Sunny." Ashley greeted me with her usual smile.
"Hi Ashley, what's up?" I greeted her back.
"So, I was wondering if you could join the volunteer corps for the preparations for the acquaintance party next week. Is it okay or do you have some things to do after school?" she said.
"I guess, I'll take that." I smiled.
"Really? That's great. Well, I'll see you later. Thank you." She said.
"Sure." I said as she passed by me.

This is normal. Really. People just talk to me when they need something. That's how I get 'friends', acquaintances rather.

I went to my room. Sat on the last seat on the corner. Then waited for the teacher to come.

Few minutes after, someone poked me on my shoulder. I turned to my right. Then when I saw who it was, I turned to my left again.

"Hey, what's the problem?" He asked.

I did not answer him.

"Um, Sunny, I'm sorry if I did something yesterday that you didn't like." He said.

There's something inside me, telling me to face him and talk to him, but I did not listen to it. Instead, I kept on pretending that I did not hear him.

Good thing, he did not say anything again.

Time passed by so quickly.
It's my last class for the day and I can't wait to get home.
Suddenly, someone texted me.

From: Ashley Carter

Hi Sunny! I just want to remind you about the volunteer corps. Thank you. See you later! 😊

Ugh! I nearly forget about this. Whatever.
I guess this would be fine. Hopefully.

(Ring)

Okay! It's time.

I stuck my school stuff into my bag and then I hurriedly passed by his chair and went outside so that he would not catch up on me again.

I looked back. He's not there. Good.

I think I'll take my things on my locker first before I go to the preparation room.

I opened my locker then a letter fell. I picked it up and read, "I see you later. 😊"

Okay? This is creepy. Whose letter might this be? Ugh. Never mind!
