Finally we meet again

Trent and the other guys finally leave in the morning around six hours later, Harold kept chewing on a piece of gum loudly since the end of Halloweentown, and it was giving me a small sensory overload. I finally got up and decided it was time to throw an outfit together, then throw myself in the trash bin I call my bed and get some well deserved yet impossible to get sleep.

I really need to get all of the ice cream boxes, soda bottles, and various other items. I had moping in my own filth for a while, guess I was just over with my parents petty bickering and complaining, I was over with that. Honestly they were okay when they weren't arguing, they gave me a ton of gifts, and acted particularly good to me. But I guess the older you get, the more you realize.

I woke up to my watch vibrating on my wrist. I slowly pulled myself out of the bed sheets and into the shower. After a few minutes I hopped out and got into my outfit. It was just a dark beige sweater and my normal green cargo pants. I checked my phone to see what Noah wanted to do.

Bookworm: Do you know any good coffee houses?
Me: Uh, I thought you had it covered?
Me: Don't worry! Uh there's... Crimson's Coffee House...
Bookworm: Yeah sure, then that frozen yogurt place, Destiny?
Me: Yeah sure! I love that place, I go whenever I can, which hasn't been recent
Bookworm: Yeah, cool. See you soon Codester.

I let out a small giggle and pull my shoes. I grab my wallet from the kitchen table along with my house keys, and rush out the door, slamming it behind me and locking it shut. I'm just barely at the coffee place and I already spotted Noah, scrambling to catch what looks like his phone as it seems to plummet towards the floor.

He didn't strike me as the type of person to randomly drop his phone. He quickly caught it and started frantically pressing on a certain button on his phone, he probably typed something embarrassing.

He noticed me walking towards him and calmly put his phone in his pocket, then stood up straight and smiled. Smiling!? He was usually to busy either being kind of jerky and self absorbed, or busy trying to joke around and make fun of others to just randomly stand around and smile.

"Hey Noah!" I exclaim to him excitedly and wave my arm in the air. He gives me a small, slight wave.

"Hey geek, nice sweater, where's you get it, Sierra's cat's?" I flinch at that name. He raised his eyebrow a little higher than usual, so he noticed my reaction.

"What? Not into the psycho Sierra jokes anymore?" He seems a little annoyed with me.

"No, just Sierra in general," I stutter, and try to change the subject, "so how about that coffee?"

I pushed the door open and saw Dawn making small talk with a customer, who seemed more than delighted. There was only two people other than me, Noah, Dawn, and the customer she was helping.

I didn't want to bother them though, I'm pretty sure they were on a date. Dawn gave the person in front of us their order, and we shuffled to the front of the line. Dawn immediately gave me a sort of smug smile, and gleefully dragged on her cashier role.

"Hello, welcome to Crimson's Coffee House what may I get you today? Hi again Cody," Noah gave me a small look.

"Hi Dawn." I smiled. I looked over to Noah and whispered "We're friends, she's basically the only cashier." Dawn took a light breath and immediately guessed our orders. "So a mocha frappuccino and swiss roll for Cody and a pure black coffee for you Noah?"

Our jaws dropped and I gasped out a confused and slurred speech. "How the fuck do you do that...?" Dawn chuckled and shrugged. We just looked at each other and took a seat.

"...Seriously what the fuck?" Noah shuddered, "That's actually creepy." I shrugged and sheepishly grinned. "Well, you know, everyone has their own talents I guess?" Noah let out a chuckle. His chuckle was actually quite nice. "That's a pretty kind way to put it Cody. Seriously, how are you so optimistic about shit? It's actually a super power."

I had no real response. I mean, I guess just seeing the bad side of things makes me feel worse. But I didn't really want to say that aloud, besides I just wanted our stuff, so I just told him I didn't know. It was weird seeing him generally happy without him being cynical. It was probably because he had a girlfriend now? Something felt off about it though...

I didn't have time to dwell on it though, because my name got called signaling our stuff was ready. Damn they really finished things fast here, that's one of the reasons I absolutely love this place, they really need more customers their items are generally the best of anything.

"A plain black coffee for a mister Noah-it-all." Noah snickered and pushed my shoulder. "Oh shut up mister basic bitch with a fucking mocha frappuccino." I could barely contain my laughter, which did get us a weird look from the couple in the booth next to us.

The guy had a gap smile plastered on his face and he kept looking at us then his girlfriend. I tried to ignore them even though it was hard with that guy looking at us like we were a venomous spider that would jump at him the second you looked away.

I coughed awkwardly, and we just made small talk the whole time. We talked about good movies, media, music (at least I did, Noah just said he hated music. Loser.) and whatever else we could.

It was actually really nice! We finished up our drinks, paid Dawn for our stuff and Headed to the frozen yogurt place we had planned to go to. We got recognized twice and took fans with a 12 year old mega-fan. He was nice.

The place we went to was called Destiny, it had been around for a while, in fact It's opening was the day I made my Total Drama Island audition tape so it was good. I went there right after action and was put on the "famous visitors" wall. It was actually nice!

When Noah and I walked in, the place was surprisingly not very full. I mean it was early in the morning and this place is usually jam packed with families so it was nice for everything not to be crowded. The owner spotted Noah, which meant there was yet another face on the famous visitors wall.

He let us take a picture together too. There were barely  any people on the wall, just me, the two people from celebrity manhunt and now Noah. It was pretty nice. We claimed a seat facing the  window and got some pretty random flavors, I got a swirl of Classic Chocolate and Natural Vanilla, and Noah got Pure Chocolate Death.

I eventually ran out of things to say. So I brought up the first thing I really thought of. "So, you and Emma? How has that been going?" I asked. Noah looked kind of surprised, his eyes were wide. "Hm? Oh, yeah, Emma. She's in law school right now so we're strictly long distance dating. For now at least." I felt my face scrunch up, but I tried to smile through it.

"Oh, that's cool. Mhm. Uh well, I should get going, I have work first thing tomorrow." Noah's face was plastered with utter dismay. "You!? A job!? That's hilarious Cody." I squinted my eyes at him. "Yes actually. I re-fill the shelves with returned books, help others find books around the library, and I get to manage the desk in the morning."

Noah snickered, but nodded. "Alright, let's go then. I might even stop by the library and say hello." I laughed. "Sounds good."
