Sorry for not updating, I've been stuck on what to write and decided to rewrite the first two chapters to fit in better with what the story is going to be like in the future. I also just wanted to make the chapters longer. hope you enjoy this version better than the previous one, because I sure do. <3

The crowd of people had gathered in the town square, the atmosphere tense and thick with anticipation. The crown prince stood atop a raised podium, his face stern and determined. At his feet was the villain, bound and kneeling.
The heroine watched from a safe distance, her eyes wide with fear. The prince raised his sword and addressed the crowd.
"This man has committed heinous acts against my people and will be punished for his crimes," he declared.
With one final glance at the villain, the prince swung his sword and beheaded the man. The crowd erupted into cheers and applause, but the heroine stayed silent, standing timidly.
Despite her fear of the prince's actions, she was relieved, ecstatic even that he had been punished. She tried to keep her thoughts to herself, not wanting others to know how she felt. Despite her reluctance, a smile escaped her lips.

The basement was dark and damp, filled with the musty smell of being sealed off for years.
In the corner of the room, a small figure sat, unmoving and silent. His clothing was dirty and worn, his hair unkempt and wild. He sat still as a statue, his eyes glassy and distant and wide as he waited for his uncle to appear.
He heard the creaking of the old wooden stairs as his uncle slowly descended into the basement, a menacing look in his eyes. The boy felt his heart racing as his uncle's footsteps drew nearer and nearer until he was standing in front of him.
His uncle grabbed him by the collar and dragged him out of the corner, pushing him up against the cold wall. The boy's uncle was raging, his face red and contorted with anger. He punched the boy in the stomach, and then again in the face.
The boy felt the pain, but he couldn't show it. He just stood there, emotionless, as his uncle continued to beat him. The blows were coming faster and faster, and the boy could feel his body going numb. He closed his eyes, bracing himself for the pain, until suddenly his uncle stopped.
The uncle stepped back, panting and exhausted from his outburst. He looked down at the boy with a mixture of anger and disgust, then turned and walked back up the stairs.
The boy stayed there, slumped against the wall until he heard the door slam shut at the top of the stairs. He opened his eyes and began to cry.
He had been locked in this basement for so long. His parents died at the age of 12, leaving him and his older brother in their uncle's hands. His brother was the first to leave the basement. he wasn't able to handle the pressure and ended his own life. Leaving the boy alone in this world.
The boy was, isolated and forgotten. He had grown from a child to a teenager, but his soul had been left behind. He had lost his ability to feel any emotion as if a part of him had been sealed off and forgotten.
His brother used to enjoy reading novels. His favourite was a very genetic novel called 'god's chosen one' and he talked about it nonstop.
The novel features, Marie Edmond. Her father was killed when she was younger, by the villain of the story, and she is determined to avenge him. One day, Marie discovers she has the power to control light, a rare power that hasn't been inherited for the past 100 years.
She enrols in the Imperial Academy, a place where she can improve her skills and use her new power to exact revenge against the villain. As she grows in strength, Marie slowly builds a small harem full of men who do whatever she says. Together, they battle all kinds of obstacles, eventually beheading the villain.
The boy chuckled.
'why am I even thinking of this?'
He lay on the concrete floor, feeling the pain that radiated from his body. His uncle had been particularly brutal this time and he was left with bruises and cuts all over. He looked down at his blood-soaked clothing in disgust.
'would his family even recognize him?'
'yes he still had the same hair and eye colour, but his body is completely different now. Even though he is older than before somehow he looks even smaller. He's scrawny and malnourished.'
He brushed away those thoughts, and with no energy left, he slowly closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
----
He awoke with a jump, feeling a single drop of cold water on his forehead. The day was exactly like the last, quiet.
The boy watched his uncle come down the stairs. He knew what was coming, and he braced himself for the beating. His uncle grabbed the boy by the collar of his shirt, dragged him, and then proceeded to beat him.
He punched him in the stomach and back, and even threw him against the wall. The boy shut his eyes as the beating continued until it stopped.
The boy was startled when he opened his eyes to see his uncle suddenly stumble and fall to the ground. He froze for a second and glanced at the door that was wide open. He knew this was his only chance to escape, and he took it.
He ran up the stairs without looking back and and out the front door, feeling a sense of freedom for the first time.
But his freedom was short-lived. His uncle must of been right behind him and was now pinning him to the ground, choking him.
The boy struggled, but it was too late. His uncle's grip was too strong, eventually his struggling body stopped moving.
His mind went dark
