The morning sun bathed Adora's home in a soft, golden glow.
As she awoke, she couldn't help but dwell on the events of the previous night.
Her passionate encounter with Ethan and the shocking revelation about the escaped murderer had left her in a state of heightened emotions.
But it was what had happened afterward that truly baffled her.
She couldn't shake the vivid memory of Isabell sleeping in one of the guest rooms. Adora had thought Isabell was still out when she and Ethan returned home, and yet there she was, asleep peacefully.
Unable to resist her curiosity, Adora quietly slipped out of bed and made her way to the guest room.
The door was slightly ajar, and when she pushed it open, she saw Isabell, curled up under the blankets.
Adora waited in the room, watching Isabell's peaceful slumber.
She wondered how Isabell had managed to return home so quietly without Adora noticing.
After what felt like an eternity, Isabell stirred in her sleep. Her eyelids fluttered open, revealing a pair of dark, haunted eyes.
She looked disoriented for a moment, but when she saw Adora, a faint smile touched her lips.
"Morning," Isabell mumbled.
Adora couldn't help but feel a mixture of relief and curiosity. "Isabell, did you come back home last night?"
Isabell nodded, still half-asleep. "Yes, I did. I didn't want to wake you."
Adora found it odd. She was certain that Isabell hadn't been in the house when she and Ethan had returned. But before she could question further, she decided to let it go for the moment.
"Alright, well, I'm glad you're back safe," Adora said, trying to sound casual.
They made their way to the kitchen, where Adora prepared breakfast for both of them.
As they sat at the table, they engaged in pleasant conversation, discussing various topics and sharing stories from their lives.
Adora found herself genuinely enjoying Isabell's company.
But as they chatted, Adora's eyes began to wander. She noticed something on Isabell's arms and neck—faint scars that seemed out of place.
Unable to contain her curiosity any longer, Adora gently asked, "Isabell, what happened to your arms and neck? How did you get those scars?"
Isabell's cheerful demeanor immediately shifted. Her eyes welled up with tears, and her voice quivered as she spoke.
"I... I died,"Isabell whispered, her voice barely audible.
Adora's heart skipped a beat, and she struggled to comprehend what Isabell had just said.
"Died? But you're here with me now.
Isabell nodded, tears streaming down her face.
"Yes, Adora. I was murdered...
tortured, by my own father."
Adora was struck speechless, her mind unable to process the gravity of Isabell's revelation.
She had been having breakfast and talking to someone who claimed to be dead.
Isabell's voice trembled as she continued,
"I've been trapped in this world, unable to move on, unable to find peace. I don't know why I'm here or why you can see me, but I'm grateful that you can."
Overwhelmed by shock and compassion, Adora reached out and embraced Isabell, who clung to her as if holding onto a lifeline.
Tears welled up in Adora's eyes as she tried to comfort the tormented soul before her.
As they held each other in a tearful embrace, Adora knew that her life had taken a surreal turn.
She had encountered a ghost, a spirit from beyond the grave, and her world was forever changed.
Questions swirled in Adora's mind.
Why could she see Isabell? What did Isabell want from her? And most importantly, how could she help Isabell find the peace she so desperately sought?
But for now, as Isabell cried in her arms, Adora knew that the answers could wait.
What mattered was being there for this tormented soul who had somehow become a part of her life, a part she couldn't turn away from.
And so, Adora held Isabell close, whispering words of comfort and understanding, determined to unravel the mysteries of this strange and haunting connection that had formed between them.
