"Oh my god, Mom. That was so humiliating!" Emma through a fit entering the house with groceries in hand.
"Relax, Emma." Her mother retorted. "It's literally nothing."
"Nothing, mom? Nothing? Josh, the literal hottest guy in school, looked at those diapers, looked at me, and blushed. He blushed, mom! And not cause he thought I was cute, but because he clearly thought those were for me! Now he thinks I'm a bedwetting baby!"
"Emma, he doesn't think you're a baby. You're overreacting. He didn't even notice. He scanned them and moved on, just like every other item. And they're not diapers, they're pull-ups. You're going to hurt Marah's feelings if she hears you talking like that."
"Maybe she should get her feelings hurt!" Emma sassed back. "Maybe then she would quit being such a baby."
"She's not a baby, Emma."
"Come on, mom. Bedwetters wear diapers. Baby's wear diapers. Bedwetters are babies. It's simple math."
"That's enough, Emma!" Her mother scolded. "Just because you're a little embarrassed doesn't mean you get to be mean to your sister."
In that moment, Marah came walking down the stairs carrying a laundry basket. Her mother couldn't help but notice she was now wearing a pair gray sweatpants rather than the blue jeans she had on when she got home from school. There was also no mistaking the wet bedding in her basket.
"Marah, what happened?" Her mom asked disappointingly to the girl with a deer in the headlights look.
"I'm sorry, mom." Marah answered shyly. "I fell asleep watching tv and I sorta had an accident."
Emma couldn't help but tease.
"Aww, did the little baby forget to put on her diaper before nap time?" The older sister laughed.
"Emma!" Their mother snapped.
Marah began to cry as she carried her soiled laundry to the wash.
"Hold on a sec." Emma said pulling out her phone quickly. "Say cheese."
Marah's humiliation was multiplied as Emma snapped photos of her dealing with her accident.
"What do you think you're doing!" Their mom yelled at her oldest daughter.
"I'm just getting some photos of the true bedwetter of the family to show Josh that those diapers weren't for me."
"They're not diapers!" Marah shouted, storming away in embarrassment.
"Emma Nicole!" Her mother scolded. "That's it! Go apologize to your sister right now or you can forget having your little friends over. How would you feel if you had to wear pull-ups and Marah made fun of you for it?"
"Well it's a good thing I don't have to, mom." Emma said matter-of-factly as she rolled her eyes and walked away. "You couldn't dare me to wear those."
