Chapter 2
Alexis' P.O.V.
I was finishing up packing the remaining items I had left in my hotel room.
"Welp that's everything," I thought to myself.
I grabbed all my luggage and I made my way to the hotel lobby. I walked outside and saw that my chauffeur was standing outside of an all black Suburban.
"Good evening Miss Parker," my chauffeur greeted me.
I offered a small smile and a quiet hello. I hope that didn't come off rude. I'm not very up for being social right now. I'm putting all of my energy into adapting to these major changes and learning how to be okay with everything. I think he picked up the vibe and offered a small smile of his own in return. He closed my door after I got in and carefully placed my luggage in the the truck. He got into the vehicle and we quietly made our way to the airport.
We arrived about 20 minutes later. The driver let me out and handed me my belongings.
"You're all set Miss Parker. I wish you the best for your future endeavors. I don't mean to intrude your business but I see a lot of worry in your face. I've been watching you play ball since you were in college. You are damn good at what you do, you have no reason to be so worked up. You belong to where you're going. You're a trailblazer in women's history now. That alone should have you smiling ear to ear. I'm not here to tell you how to feel, but I definitely encouraging you to not feel so bad about it. I promise you, you'll do just fine," he said.
I guess I have been looking at this whole scenario the wrong way. I just can't believe it's me making this kind of history. It feels so surreal. And now that I think about it, I actually am very flattered that they think I'm qualified to excel in a predominantly male basketball league. I can finally receive the challenge that I've always been looking for.
I smiled, "Thank you for that. You have no idea how much you just eased my mind. I just want nothing more than to make everyone proud. I can't do that if I constantly doubting myself, now can I?"
My driver chuckled, "Now that's the spirit. That mindset will get you a lot further."
We exchanged our goodbyes and I walked into the airport. I walked through the medal detector, checked in, and boarded my flight.
I saw that Adam got me a first-class ticket.
"At least I'll have some privacy," I thought to myself.
I dreaded plane rides so much. Believe it or not, I'm very introverted. You would like to think that I would be use to people by now due to my career but, unfortunately I'm not.
I took my seat and got comfortable. I put my airpods in and played Gone Away by H.E.R. as I slowly drifted asleep.

I was waken up by the flight attendant who informed me we would be landing soon. I thanked her and began to gather my belongings.
Once the plane landed I went to go grab my bags. I checked my phone to see if I received any instructions on what to do. I saw that I received a text from Adam saying that he was waiting for me inside the airport.
I began walking around until I saw Mr. Silver holding up a sign with my name.
I walked up to him and awkwardly introduced myself.
"H-Hey Mr. Silver."
He smiled, "What an honor it is to have you on this side. Please, call me Adam. Mr. Silver is way too formal for my liking.
