Chapter 5

Alexis' P.O.V.

I sat at the table with my brother, aunt, and uncle.

I was getting a bit nervous because they were on number 9 and they still haven't called my name yet.

My brother grabbed my hand and squeezed it reassuringly.

"Don't worry. Just calm down and give it time," he said.

"For the 10th pick, the Cleveland Cavaliers has selected Alexis Parker."

The room erupted with claps, loud cheers, and whistles.

I stood up while putting on my hat and hugged my family.

As I made my way to the stage, I made eye contact with a guy who was light-skin and had curly hair. He smiled and winked while I shyly smiled back.

I'm gonna have to look for him later..

I walked onto the stage and shook hands with Adam. We took pictures and I walked off stage.

~3 hours later~

After I finally finished with everything, I went to find my family.

My brother spotted me and ran towards me while giving me a bone-crushing hug.

"I'm so proud of you. My little sister is playing for the Cavaliers!" he exclaimed.

I laughed.

"Put the poor child down! You're gonna squeeze her to death," my aunt scowled.

My brother smiled sheepishly and placed me back on the ground.

I went over to my aunt and uncle and hugged them tight.

"Your parents would have been so proud of you," my uncle said.

I smiled and nodded.

I was about to say something until someone called my name. I turned around to see that it was the guy from earlier.

Klay's P.O.V.

"For the 11th pick in the NBA draft, the Golden State Warriors has selected Klay Thompson."

I stood up while putting on my hat and hugged everyone.

Even though I was excited about playing for the Warriors, my mind was still on Alexis.

I slightly smiled. I definitely have to look for her later.

I shook hands with Adam and made my way off stage.

After I was finished with everything, I decided to search for Alexis.

I finally saw her and called out her name .

There were a lot of people so I didn't notice she was with her family.

I cringed a little, not wanting to come off rude.

I was about to walk away until I saw her walking towards me.

"Hey. Klay, right?"

I nervously smiled.

"Y-yeah. I'm very sorry for interrupting your family time. I didn't know you were with them," I apologize.

"It's all good, we have the rest of the night to catch up. But what's up?" she asked

"I- uh- I was wondering if you wanted to hang out with my family tomorrow. You can bring yours if you'd like."

She smirked, "Hmm, we're not even dating and we hardly know each other but I'm already meeting your family?" she questioned.

I blushed

"Uh I- I-

She laughed.

"I'm kidding Klay. I'd love to hang out with y'all," she smiled.

"Great. Come to the carnival downtown at 6." I said.

"Will do."

She gave me a quick hug before walking away.

I sat there smiling like an idiot until my brother came over.

"Why are you smiling like a creep?" Mychel asked.

"Cause I'm in love with the Coco," I sang, walking off.

"Weirdo," I heard him mumble.
