I don't believe it Ch 10

James POV

After a good slumber, I decided to try and talk to Severus. I was walking through the corridor when I saw Remus, Sirius and Lily walk towards me. I was about to go the other way so I won't have to engage in a conversation but they called me over before I can do it.

"Hey James!" I heard Padfoot yell for me. I had no choice but to turn around and answer him.

"Hey Padfoot I was just about to take a walk down the Halls." I said hoping that it would make them go away.

"Well why don't I come with you? I have to tell you what happened in the Great Hall today." Lily said she sounded kind of sad but it also sounded a little fake. Right now I didn't have the time to care.

"Sorry but I want to be alone to clear my head." I said with a apologetic smile. "You can tell me about it later."

Padfoot and Moony looked a bit shocked because before I would jump at the opportunity to be alone with Lily. I shocked myself too but I was on a mission right now.

"Excuse me, I should be off." I said as I walked away before they could say anything.

'Now where is he and what should I say to him.' I thought to myself as I started searching the castle for Severus. I searched the potions class and storage but couldn't find him so I decided to look outside as I didn't know where else he would be in the castle.

As I walked outside looking everywhere for him, I found him sitting under a big tree in front of the Black lake. I felt myself start to smile before I saw who he was with. Lucius Malfoy and Regulus Black was with him.

I don't know why I started to feel jealous as I saw Lucius sitting near Severus and hugging him but I decided to try to push those feelings away. As I started walking up to them Regulus saw me and nudged Severus and Lucius. They all stood up and were now glaring at me as I started approaching them.

"What do you want Potter?" Lucius spat at me, glaring hatefully at me.

"I'm not here for trouble, I just need to talk to Snape." I said holding up my hands in surrender as I was looking at Severus.

"Well he doesn't want to talk to yo-" "Fine." Severus interrupted Regulus.

"Wait! Severus let's think about it, it's Potter." Regular said and Lucius nodded his head in agreement.

"I know. But also think about this, he cannot do or say anything that would fix what I'm going to do." Severus said raising eyebrow at the two.

I was starting to wonder what he was talking about until I remember what he said and dumbledore's office. 'Well if he's going to do something, it's probably going to be big if he said he was going to take down the Headmaster from his position.' I thought to myself.

Severus then turn to me and raise an eyebrow. "Well Potter, let's go." He said before he started walking away with me in tow. We start walking for about 5 minutes in silence before he broke it. "What did you want to talk about Potter?"

I can feel myself wince as he kept saying my last name with such distaste. "I know it won't change anything about you feel or what you're going to do and frankly I won't stop you but I wanted to apologize." I said sincerely and he stopped working before turning to me with a slight shocked expression on his face.

Severus POV

After I heard that, I couldn't help but be shocked. James Potter was apologizing to me, the boy he tormented for years. After a minute, I found myself getting angry as I kept thinking about it.

"So it took me telling your parents about me being tortured for years by you and your little gang and for you to soon be separated from your friends for you to apologize to me!" I yelled. "I don't know what game you're playing at but I not buying it. You're only doing this so I won't tell everyone about you and the Headmaster so you wouldn't lose your reputation and your friends. Well guess what it's not happening. I'm not going to stop until you and the Headmaster feels what everyone in the damn castle and other houses felt!" I spat before I started walking away leaving Potter speechless.

'The nerve of him. Apologizing to me so he could save what little reputation he has left. I don't care what he says and I am not going to fall for it.' I thought to myself frustrated as I walked back to the Black lake where Lucius and Regulus still were.

Once I got there, Lucius and regulus started asking questions about what James had said.

"So what did Potter want? Did he try anything?" Lucius asked as I saw him glance over me for any injuries.

"That prat, that brainless oaf apologized to me." I said frustrated as I started pacing back and forth. I saw Lucius and Regulus look confused of what I was saying.

"I thought that was a good thing." I heard Regulus whisper too Lucius. "Apparently not." Lucius whispered back.

"He wasn't apologizing to me to fix everything or at least be a little regretful. He was doing it to not lose his reputation or his friends." I said to them as if it was obvious.

"Wait a minute. How do you know he wasn't being serious or that he regretted it?" Regulus asked confused.

"Because had he regretted it or have been serious, he wouldn't have taken me threatening to go after the Headmaster and for their little band to break up for him to apologize to me." I said scoffing.

"That's true now. He wouldn't be doing this if his reputation and Friends weren't on the line." Lucius said before he continued. "But on the other hand, he may be doing this for real. For him and for you. Probably to clear his guilty conscience."

"So he could either be doing it for himself or for his guilty conscience?" Regulus asked more confused. "This is all too complicated." He whine before he turned to me. "So what are you going to do?"

"I don't know." I said looking down. "But what I do know is, whatever game he's playing
I don't believe it."
