James's POV
The next week was a little stressful. Dad and Padfoot barely spoke to each other unless they had too. Me and Padfoot kept looking for a jod until mom recommended a clothing store an old friend of hers owned at Hogsmeade. Her friend, Adeline Rosemary, needed some new employees and we were the only ones to try to get the job, so she had no choice since she was desperate. Today was our first day working and, I never thought I'd say this, I'm excited. It was 7:30 when my mom dropped us off at the store and Ms. Rosemary led us inside.
"Alright boys, I need you to open these boxes carefully so you don't damage the clothes inside, then I need you to hang them up on different racks for different colors." Ms. Rosemary said as she demonstrated. She opened the box carefully with a box cutter and hung the clothes by color. "Make sure separated the sizes. Large at the back, small in the front, and medium in the middle." She said show the tags on the clothes. "Woman and dresses are on the right side of the store and men's are on the left. Also, no magic in the store. I prefer everything by hand to be safe."
"Yes ma'am." Me and Padfoot said before we got work. Padfoot started opening the boxes while I grabbed the clothes and put them away. As I kept going back and forth with the clothes, I noticed Padfoot was extremely silent as he was opening the boxes. "Did you hear Moony is working at Flourish & Blotts for his punishment?" I asked while picking up some clothes and Padfoot didn't say anything. "I don't know if that's a punishment for him. He loves books and sending his time in the library." I joked, hoping he would say something.
"He hasn't responded to my letters." Padfoot mumbled as he opened another box. "I've been sending him letters everyday but he hasn't responded to any of them." He said before he turned to me. "How did you were he was working?" He asked as he stopped what he was doing.
I felt a little awkward. "He sent me a letter about how his parents did the same thing to his and how he has a job at Flourish & Blotts now." I replied before quickly returning back to work. Padfoot started opening the boxes again with a sad and distant look at his face. I felt bad for him as it seemed he was deeply hurt that Moony wasn't talking to him. "Next time,, I'll ask him why he didn't sent you any letters." I said before walking towards the front of the store.
"No need. We both know why he didn't sent me a letter." I heard Padfoot mumbled sadly before I went to the front of the store. As I was putting up the clothes, I started thinking about ways to cheer Padfoot up and get Moony to talk to him. Moony will need a lot of time away from Padfoot to really think about everything that happened in the past 5 years. "This is for the best." I said to myself.
'Everything will work itself out. In the meantime, I need to figure out how to earn Severus's forgiveness.' I thought to myself. I started thinking about gifts I could get him or try talking to him and show him I'm changing. What I don't know is why I'm feeling like this or why I feel the need to impress him. I used to do these things for Lily but now I'm doing it for Severus. While I was lost in thought and putting clothes away, I didn't hear the store bell ring. I didn't notice until I heard a familiar voice behind me.
"Excuse me. Can you help me pick out some clothes?" The familiar voice said from behind me. My head shot up and turned around to see . . . . Severus!
Severus's POV
This past week, I showed Lucius and Regulus my new dorm and got them to help me move my things there. Dumbledore has been ignoring me more than usual and kept glancing at me, like he was trying to watch my every more but I ignored him. Everything was perfect except for one thing. My clothes. The holidays had started and students were allowed to go to Hogsmeade for some shopping. I took the gallons that I got from the bank and set off to Hogsmeade.
While going to Hogsmeade, I started thinking about what to do about Dumbledore. He has been in the Ministry of magic for years and many people see him as a "hero", which I don't know why if they attended Hogwarts. If I go down to the Ministry and say that I want Dumbledore moved from his position as Headmaster, they would probably laugh at me or arrest me for such accusations. Maybe I could see if my family had a place in the Ministry and I could talk to the Minister of magic.
First I'll need evidence so I could prove I'm telling the truth. Maybe if I collect the names of everyone that was ignored and bullied, not to mention show their medical records since being in Hogwarts, they could start doing something about it. Everyone can finally see what kind of a Headmaster Dumbledore is and things could be better for the kids, for everyone.
I put the thoughts on the side, for now, once I noticed I've arrived at Hogsmeade. I've only been to this place once and I couldn't buy anything. Lucius recommended a clothing store called Rosemary so as I walked through Hogsmeade, I decided to check out the store. I walked around Hogsmeade until I found the store. It wasn't big but it wasn't small either.
I look through the window and saw that there were many clothes scattered around the store. They were different colors and sizes to choose from. 'Maybe this will be harder than I thought. I don't know how to dress like a pure-blood.' I thought to myself as I walked towards the door.
I walked inside and went to the men section of the store. I spent 5 minutes in the section looking around but I didn't know what to get. 'Maybe I should get someone to help me with this.' I thought to myself before looking around the store for an employee. I found someone putting some clothes on the racks but I couldn't see his face. He seemed familiar somehow.
"Excuse me. Can you help me pick out some clothes?" I asked the employee. The employee's head shoot up and he turned around. I took a step back as I was shocked when I saw . . . Potter! What in the bloody hell is he doing in the store!?
More importantly, was he
working!?
