Flash and Bang

How does one hire an individual with no qualms about taking another's life? In Hell, it's actually quite easy. So when I found the contact information of an assassin from the Wrath Ring, it only took me a few days.

"Yes ma'am," A deep, southern drawl said from the other end of the line, "I can be there tomorrow."

When the line went dead, I continued to hold it to my ear, staring off into space. Ever since the sharp-toothed mobster had left my store, I felt as though I had been drifting through a daze.

Shaking my head, I stood and stretched, leaving my phone on the desk. It had grown late, the shop had been closed for several hours now. When had I last eaten?

I began to make my way towards the stairwell that led up to my apartment when a tap sounded on the door. Irrate, I called out, "We're closed!"

The sound of glass shattering made me spin on my heel just in time to see something being thrown through the now-broken window. A split second later, a bright light accompanied by a deafening bang knocked me off my feet.
