After what felt like hours, Striker slowly pulled out of me. Flopping down onto the bed beside me, he pulled me to his chest. The steady beating of his heart was comforting as I laid my head on his chest.
In the quiet, I wondered what would come next. The threat was gone, at least for now. But despite the calm after the storm, I found myself not wanting Striker to leave. I had gotten used to him being here.
"What's on your mind, darlin'?" His voice was a soft rumble.
I look up at him, my heart thudding in my chest as I say softly, "Would you consider staying here...permanently?"
Striker raises an eyebrow and doesn't say anything for a long moment. I start to feel nervous when he finally replies, "You want me to live here?"
I nod, biting my lip. After a brief, but incredibly awkward moment, he says, "I would love that, darlin'."
Striker pulls me closer, wrapping his arms around me. I couldn't help but think that this was right where we were meant to be.
