Philidelphia had seen better days, that was for sure. So had every other place Operation Bite Mark had passed through, wherever they went they brought distaster, chaos, distruction and Z's.─── · 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
"Amish zombies? Really?" Addy commented, her voice disgusted.
"Z's don't discriminate." Marnie replied, laughing with her sister.
The truck had broke down, but what's new? If their vehicle wasn't broken everyone would be a tad suspect.
Marnie occupied herself in the back of the truck with a puzzle book she had found at the last store they raided, and surprisingly it had all the pages intact. It was a wordsearch, something she enjoyed pre-Z. That's why she had grabbed it. Something familiar to remember the old world. Her old life. It was comforting in a way.
She was interrupted by Doc and Cassandra. They were talking about zombies having souls or something? To be honest she wasn't quite sure and didn't really care. She looked back down at her lap, continuing on with the page only looking up when 10K joined in the conversation.
"When my pa was wounded, he told me to tie him up before he turned. Made me promise to show him mercy when he died." There was a hint of sadness buried in his voice, as if he was trying to supress his emotions, keep them hidden. "Kill the brain you know? I couldn't do it. I couldn't hurt my pa. No matter what he'd become. I stared into his eyes for the longest time, just looking for some sign he was still in there."
"Did you see anything?" Cassandra butted in. Marnie slightly growling at her. This was clearly hard for him to speak about, yet she felt she had to interrupt.
10K just shook his head, as Doc spoke up. "What'd you do?"
"I killed it." That sounded more like the 10K they all knew, cold and calculated. "I didn't kill him. I killed it." He added hastily.
Marnie's thoughts began to race. Right back to her own mother, the day everything started. Addy's screams from the basement as she killed their mother, just as 10K had killed his father. She felt terrible for him, she wanted to comfort him, tell him she understood. But, her heart wouldn't let her. Instead, she just placed her hand on his knee and offered a kind smile.
Thinking for a moment, she opened her mouth "He knows you kept your promise."
"Humans, 6 o'clock." Doc warned everyone as a small car started following them.
