He was so sweet to me at times, enough to make me want to give him a chance.. Until I remember the real reason I was thrown into this marriage, or should I say: compromise.

"Get dressed, and I'll be waiting downstairs for you. Tonight will be perfect." he says, a smile stretching on his lips. I chewed on my inner lip and nodded, watching him turn to leave my room. He was so normal about it all- it baffled me. How could he be so okay about having a stranger as his wife.

I quickly got dressed to meet him downstairs, waiting for me in his open office. I saw him through the open door at his desk, engrossed in some paper between his fingers. I walked to him, my heels in my hand. "Hello." I announced myself. He looked up, placing the paper down, his eyes first flickering down to my heels. "Sit." he says.

I walked deeper into his office and sat on one of the faux sofas. "You have a beautiful home, really." I said, as he approached me. "I'm glad you like it that much." he says, suddenly kneeling at my feet. My brows furrowed and I instantly pulled away from him. He then takes one of my heels from beside me and gently wraps his fingers around my ankle. "My mother was the one who insisted I mustn't have such a-- boring, was the word she used, home." he told me. My eyes focused on his hands the entire time.

"Your mother seems nice." I said, and he chuckled. "Oh, she can be." he replied, buckling the strap around my ankle before reaching for my other. "She'll be your best friend, believe it or not, her first daughter in-Law." he continued, and something tightened in my stomach.
"Now we can leave." he said, standing straight, "Thank you." I said, taking his extended hand, "Haeun, won't be there tonight, but I assume even if he were- there wouldn't be a problem." I couldn't look at him when he said it. My face flushed, and I cleared my throat. "No, there wouldn't be." I answered.

The drive was long. I would've never thought of a son wanting to live so far away from his family. We must've left town forty minutes ago. I hadn't spoken a word, and I didn't want to be the one to break the silence. There was gentle music playing and the seat warmers were on making me tired. I never realised how exhausted I was with all the lack of rest. "You should sleep." he then says, glancing at me for a split second, "Don't you feel alone-- away from your family like this?" I asked him.

"I don't enjoy the company." he responds. "I've always been alone, and now I'm used to it."

I glanced out the window, "When you say always.. I read about you being engaged to your secretary-"

"That is none of your business." he snaps, and my eyes flicker to him, "I'm sorry, but if I'm going to be your wife I need to know more of you-"

"I have money and own a highly successful organisation." he responded, "You can't be serious." I scoffed. "But I am." he says, making a turn into a dark alley, surrounded by only trees. "There simply isn't a reason for me to unravel my past to you."

"What if I want you to-"

"We're here." he says, abruptly stepping on the breaks.

I looked up at the castle in front of me. They were filthy rich..

He unbuckled his belt before me and opened his door. A man in a white suit was approaching us when Jimin opened the door for me. He then gave the car keys to that man and took my hand. "They wont be taking my marriage lightly, nor will the media." he mumbled, into my hair. "It's every girls dream come true."

"I'd choose love over wealth." I stated, but he grinned in response.

"Welcome home, Mr Park." Another member of staff announced as we approached the humungous twin doors. "Alfred." Jimin nodded to him, pushing on my back to enter the palace. I almost choked just by looking at the interior. It was all so magnificent.
