I turned it on and was heavily relieved to finally be able to literally see and look around.
"RUE!" I stumbled on hearing my mum from downstairs. I realised I was taking too long so I rushed out asap. The torch's light made me see the path in front of me clearly.
I stepped inside the kitchen and looked for my mum, who was missing again.
"Mother?" I called out. This felt familiar like last time when I called out for her, a deja-vu that my mother must be looking for 'another-candle-something'.Suddenly,
My eyes turned round and my skin went pale at the sight in front of me.
My breath shortened, my heart-beat raised. My fingers trembled and my body shook.
My mother was laying in front of me with her eyes wide open. Her left hand was missing and she was swimming in a pool of crimson blood. Who thought such a beautiful color could be so traumatic?
Her forehead was shot and bleeding all the way down her face, and was entering her eyes making them devilish. My heart ached-, I held my chest tightly and stepped back; gasping for breath.
I dropped the torch which fell beside her dead body, it threw light to her lower body and I could now clearly see the main terror.
Her torso was cut open and her organs flushed out, it was as if someone pierced her chest with an axe. Her body was turning sap and it smelled gross, maggots were already entering her body and chewing onto that disgusting sight in front of me.
I wanted to run.
Run as far as I could.
I stepped back trembling with wobbly legs and weak knees. It was as if I may fall anytime now.
As I was stepping back, my back hit somebody's chest.
I inaudibly gasped and turned my head to the side a little to peek at that someone.
My eyes blazed with visible fear as I sensed danger from this person, I couldn't see their face as it was too dark.
I was on my way to turn my full body towards them when a hand slipped towards me and grabbed me by the neck. I could feel the floor shifting below me. I struggled to get off their strong grip but it seemed useless; anyway, how can you even blame me when a huge someone in front of me almost 3 times my own size was willing to kill me?
They tightened their grip as I was whimpering, looking forward for some mercy.
They took out a revolter and decided to point it to my forehead. I could feel my eyes burning with tears rolling down my cheeks. Was I going to die just like this? I had a dream, guess it will stay like that.
They slowly pulled the trigger and-
BANG!
...
.....-
A bang woke me up.
I sprang up and sat straight on my ancient-looking bed.
My eyes were jolting rapidly trying to comprehend what had just happened, I held my chest to normalize my breathing and somehow get comforted by it.I didn't wake up to the bullet-like shots of rain over the roof above my head, but the nightmares which had turned sinister.
