Razz was angry. No, furious. No, both. At the same time. And hungry, too.
"Emila?" she yelled at the closed door. "EMILA EMERY SERPENS COME OUT HERE SO I CAN EAT!"
"MMPH." came the muffled reply. "MMMPH!"
"Quit sulking, Emila. And no, I'm not going without you because I already did."
"MPH."
Razz took that as 'come in,' so she opened the now unlocked door. The room was a mess. Charlene's side lay untouched, but Emila's half of the room looked like an angry tornado's victim.
"I'm assuming you had a bad day?" Razz smirked a little, and made her way over to the bed where Emila sat with her knees to her chest, careful to not step on anything.
"No. Actually... well- never mind. Let's just go eat."
"Nope! I got us a tray from the cafeteria. Now we can talk. I assume," she drawled, feeling slightly guilty for the wince in Emila's posture, "that this is about Vera?"
"Razz. You know we broke up." Emila scoffed.
"Yeah. But you and I both know that you still care for her. A great amount, I must add."
Emila twiddled her thumbs, stalling. Razz raised an eyebrow.
"She's not here, Razz," Emila protested.
"I know, but my point is, you still like her. And that matters. Especially if we're going to get her back."
"We? Seriously Razz?" Emila threw up her hands in exasperation. "I'm probably the last person Vera ever wants to see right now. Even if she's in danger."
"Ok, that's it. You are going to hp me get Vera back, whether you like it or not. And after that, you don't have to talk to me or her ever again. Just come along, Emila. Or so hp me God." She added, looking deathly serious.
"Razz-"
"That's enough out of you, young lady," Razz snapped, feeling a lot like her aunt at the moment.
"Sorry, mom," Emila rolled her eyes. "Besides, I'm ... er... almost over Vera. I don't need a reminder." Emila lied through clenched teeth.
"Almost as in never," Razz pointed out. She'd seen the signs of those two's budding romance since even before the two had met. It was cute, really, but right now she kinda needed hp with the abducted-bestie-situation.
"Fineeee. So what if I'm not over Vera at all. What's your point?"
"My point is, you still care about her. As I said 5 minutes ago. Repeatedly." Emila flinched. "Anyway, I need you. To hp me, that is. Get back Vera. Come on," Razz said, as Emila began slinking under her blanket, "you still love Vera. She's my best friend. And she might be the only one who knows what the Ruby Alliance is up to. Come ON!" she shouted, exposing Emila lurking under the blanket.
"Ok, ok! I'll come! Jeez, let's just pack some things we need and get out of here. The sooner we find Vera, the sooner we can go home."
"Home?"
"Oh. Yeah... Razz, after all this, I think... I think it's high time I drop out." she bit her lip, waiting for the blow.
"Drop out? Are you serious?" Razz said in an ice cold voice. She seemed distraught: her words sounded like a flinty, whispering rasp.
"Yeah. It's too dangerous for me to be here. And you, if you haven't realized. I have sisters here, Razz."
"Yeah, and your maybe-ex is kidnapped. Do you think she'd be such a coward to leave? NO!"
