"Who's she?" I asked Frederick, my friend, while we took a short break in the cafeteria at our company.

"That's Charlotte Smith, one of the new employees we have," he replied, taking a sip of his coffee.

"Okay, when did she start work, and what does she do?"

"She started about a week ago, and she works in the accounting department," came his reply.

"I want her," I finally said. Frederick looked puzzled.

"You want her, as in?" he asked.

"I want her working as my PA. And I might want to make her mine," I said.

"Okay, I'd inform the one in charge to make the changes tomorrow, God willing. We'd give her time, and she'd begin next week. As for wanting her, you know what to do," he said, but I stopped him.

"Let them make the changes now," I said.

"No way; you'd have to manage with her out of reach for today," he said.
"I would have made them take their time and make the changes next week," he continued, laughing at my fuming expression.

She was chatting with the PA for Mr. Bradford from the accounting department. I was about to head to her side, but Frederick stopped me.

"I'm not going to allow you to create a scene. How many times do your employees see you? Different answers So you’ll wait until we close. Nothing else,", he warned. I just chuckled.

"Okay, but I can't really assure you of that." I said.

"I know, and I also know you wouldn't do something stupid," he said, shaking his head.

The coffee break was over, so we went to our different offices. When I got to my office, I couldn't help but let my mind wander to Charlotte. The way that knee-length office wear hugs her figure Her hair was placed in a neat bun, and I wonder how her hair would look when it's down. There was a knock on the door, and without waiting for an answer, Jane, my acting PA, came sauntering in.

"What's it?" I asked, trying to keep my composure. As much as she has curves and beauty, she doesn't fall into the category of women I'd like to have.

"Didn't you miss me?" She said, leaning over the table, showing some cleavage since she deliberately left the first two buttons of her shirt open.

"What brings you here?" I asked the second time with a blank expression.
She had tried so many times to get me to like her, but it proved futile.

"I heard you've got a new personal assistant," she said, moving around the table and standing behind my chair.

"And?" I asked, not surprised at how information spreads so fast.

"You know she can't handle you," she said, rubbing her hands on my shoulders.

Some men might find this gesture comforting, but it's especially annoying to me from this woman. I'm sure Charlotte would do a better job than this.

"Would you like to see yourself out of this room, or do you need an escort?" I asked, watching her flirty expression turn sour.

"You wouldn't do that to me," she said, pouting.

I picked up the telephone and started dialling the security guard's number.

"Okay, fine. I'm leaving. Just know that you can't resist me for long," she said, clicking her heels on the floor while she left.

Sorry, Jane, if I were to fall for your charms, I would have fallen a long time ago. I wonder why I haven't fired her yet. But since Charlotte would replace her by the end of the week, and I hope it won't be hard for her to adapt, I wouldn't have to worry about Jane anymore.

I decided to start working on some documents while I waited for Frederick to get his done, and then we'd see how we could work on the contracts. I hope I won't be getting any more distractions from Jane or anyone else except Fred.

Charlotte
It's been a week now since I started working for one of the most popular engineering companies in the country, BC Company Ltd. I've been offered a job as one of the accountants in the accounting department. Even though it was one of my majors at the university, I would have loved to do something related to management or something.
But I'm okay with it; it's not something tedious, which is totally fine. I've made a few acquaintances in the department.

Work has been going smoothly so far, which I'm glad of. It was a little past noon, and I was waiting for May, the personal assistant to Mr. Bradford.

"Charlotte," I heard her call as she entered my office. "I'm so sorry I'm late. I had to deliver some documents to my boss," she said.

"Don't worry, May, the break is an hour and you're not late at all. You're just in time," I said, standing up.

"Great," she said, as we headed towards the elevator.

"How's everything going?" she asked.

"It's okay so far," I said.

We finally got to the cafeteria. We had coffee and croissants and walked to a table. We continued our conversation, getting a few hellos and his from co-workers. A few minutes later, the break was over, so we headed back to our respective offices. I worked through several documents, getting the necessary things ready for collection. A few minutes before 5 p.m., May popped her head into my office.

"Have you heard what's going around the department?" she asked as she came in.

"What's new?" I asked.

"From next week, you'd be working as the personal assistant to Mr. Johnson," she said.

I looked at her, puzzled.
"You've got to be kidding me," I said.

"I'm not; everyone has the information. You should have gotten an email by now," she said.

I realized a notification had popped up on my screen.

"How am I supposed to cope with the change in job and environment?" I said this after reading the content of the email.

"You're smart and very talented. You'd be able to handle it," she said, and I sighed.

"Let's get going," she said as she helped me pack up.

"How often do the other employees see him?" I asked as we went to take the elevator.

"We see him once in a while, but not that often," she answered.

"I guess you're Charlotte," Jane said as she stepped into the elevator before the door closed.

Everyone knew the arrogant, bossy, know-it-all PA. Everyone avoids her like a plague since no one wants to deal with her attitude. I guess this encounter is in relation to me replacing her.

"You know you're not the kind of woman he'd like. Just don't cross your limits," she continued, then walked out with a funny frown when we got to the ground floor.

"I just hate her," May said when she was out of earshot.

I laughed as we walked to the parking lot. May would be joining her boss since they live in the same neighbourhood. After we said our goodbyes, I turned to leave when a black, expensive car stopped in front of me. The glass rolled down, and it was none other than Mr. Damian Johnson. I just stared at him as if he'd grown horns.

"Are you just going to stand there and stare at me, or would I have to get down and carry you in?" he asked.

I got in and pulled the seat belt across my chest, putting it in place. He drove off after that.

"Mr. Johnson..." I started, but he chuckled.

"Just call me Damian, Charlotte," he said.

He knows my name. Yeah, right. I'd be working for him soon, so he probably has my details.

"Ermm...okay," I said, unsure of whether to continue with the question that came to mind or not. I decided to ask a different question than the one I had in mind.

"Ermm, Damian, how am I supposed to know how to go about being your personal assistant?" I asked.

"It shouldn't be difficult for you. There's more to it, though, than just answering calls and preparing schedules and others," he answered.

"Okay," I said, remaining silent throughout the drive and only speaking when I had to give directions. We finally arrived at my apartment. I stayed alone, and it wasn't a big place, but it was manageable. We alighted, and he walked me to my door.

"Thank you for the ride, Damian," I said.

"Don't mention. By the way, I love the way my name falls out of your pretty lips," he said, smirking. I'm sure my face was a bright shade of red.

"See you tomorrow," he said, taking my hand and kissing my knuckles.

I stood there, dumbfounded, and watched him leave, get into his car, and then drive off. I finally went inside and went straight to the bedroom. I took off everything and went to take a shower.

It was past 6 p.m. when we arrived, so I decided to order some food, eat, play some games, and then later have some rest. I played some music to help me relax. I kept thinking about Damian and the comment he made. I decided to push the thought away. Tomorrow will be a busy day, just like the past week.
