I checked the time after I finished my tasks for the day. It’s almost time to close. Right on time, as always, I thought. After packing, I decided to go through my phone to pass the time. A notification from an unknown number popped up on my screen.

"You know you can’t hide forever. When I finally lay my hands on you, I’ll make sure no one ever finds you. You’re no special to him; he’ll forget about you soon after you disappear. You don’t know what I have in store for you, baby girl."

The only person who calls me baby girl is my dad, and I have no idea how he got my number. Should I tell Damian? He’s already stressed, and I don’t want to be a burden on him. I closed the messaging app and went about playing my game.

"Cupcake."

Yes, daddy," I responded, standing up. I walked into Damian’s embrace.

"I just wanted a kiss before you leave," he said, placing his lips on mine.

Anytime he kisses me, I always feel something different. Not bad, different. It feels so good that I’m scared it’ll be a dream that I’ll soon wake from.

"I’ll be back before you know it," he said after the kiss.

"Okay daddy." I smiled.

Damian went back to the conference room when Fynn and Patrick came up. May said she had to go check on some things after work, so she’ll head to her side.

"Shall we grab some popcorn and go binge-watch the anime we started?" I asked as we left the building.

"Wait...how come I didn’t watch that anime?" Max asked.

"You guys decided to opt out of the fun by going to... only God knows where you guys went," Pat replied, hiding behind me.

Sorry, Little Missy, but I’ll have to grab that child behind you," Max said, ready to make a move.

"What if I don’t allow you?" I asked.

"There’s nothing I can do," he replied.

"Well, he’s all yours," I said, taking a step to the side.

"This looks like a scam," Max said.

"Well, don’t say I didn’t give you the chance," I said.

"Allow me," Pat said, pulling the door open.

I thanked him as I got in.

"I thought we came in for popcorn," I said as we kept picking things.

"We’ll need more than just popcorn if we’re going to watch a series," Sly said, picking up some drinks.

"Okay," I said.

"As I said, you’re not paying for anything," Fynn said as we got to the check point.

"You know it’s not fair," I said, getting my card out.

"Let me show you what’s fair," Pat said, taking my card and giving the cashier his. "You’ll get your card when we get home," he smiled.

"You’re kidding, right?"

"Unless you have a way of taking it out of my pocket," he said, placing it in his suit.

"I’ll just cry on you," I said, crossing my arms.

"Remind me to write a will when we get home," he said.

"I’ll happily remind you," Max chipped in.

I rolled my eyes. I took out my phone when it vibrated while I was being surrounded by the men in black.
