Charlotte
"I've sent your schedule for the day, Mr. Johnson." I said this as we entered the building. Believe me when I say I'm part of the population that hates Mondays.
"When will you just address me by my first name?" Damian ran his hand through his hair for the ninth time this morning.
"After work hours," I replied.
"What if I insist?"
"Maybe I'll call you Daddy instead." I whispered, making him smirk.
"I don't have a problem with it," he whispered back.
"Tell me you're joking." I asked, laughing.
"I'm not." He looked serious now.
"Gosh, Damian." I rolled my eyes.
"That's much better, even though I still like Daddy," he said, making us both burst out in a fit of laughter.
"But I still have to be professional. I just can't call you by your first name in front of clients and staff."
"I don't really care about them."
"What if I call you Don?" I asked as we went into the elevator.
"Do you want to know what will happen if you call me Don?" He came closer, snaking his arms around my waist.
"Yeah," I hesitated; the look in his eyes was dark.
"It makes me want to do bad things with you." He placed kisses on my neck."Mmm..." I mumbled.
I don't want things to get heated in here, even though I want more, and I won't be able to say anything sensible.
"And you know what happens when I get out of control?"
I nodded. Placing a kiss on my cheek, his smirk returns, and the tension in the elevator is gone. We moved the conversation to a more safe-for-work topic, like nothing was about to happen in here a few minutes ago.
"I hope you're looking forward to your first meeting."
"I'm not really looking forward to the meeting or any future meetings. They're boring." I rolled my eyes.
"Me neither." He laughed. "Come on, it'll be fun."
"Okay." I also laughed. Well, let the day begin...
How do you manage to do this every time?" I asked after the 2-hour meeting. He just shrugged.
"You were there with me; it made it less boring." His voice was a whisper at this point.
His other private meetings were in his office, and I made sure they were with people he was expecting. It was close to noon when the last person for the morning left. I knocked and entered his office to find him standing in front of the floor-length windows.
"Damian..." He turned, his signature smirk appearing on his face.
"What I need after a tiring half day," he said, before placing a kiss on my forehead.
"I came to ask you if there's anything you want me to get for you."
"Yeah, fruit salad, a bottle of water, and you."
"Will there be a day you won't tease me?" I laughed.
"I don't think so," he responded.
"Okay, I'll be back in five."
I left to get our snacks. I met May on my way to the cafeteria.
"Mmm... someone's glowing," she said, looking at me from head to toe. "You've got some explaining to do," she continued, making me chuckle. "How do you go from professional manager to hot girl over the weekend to professional sexy PA?"
"I hope you're not expecting an answer." I asked after telling the lady in charge what I needed.
"Tell me, what did you guys do after the picnic?"
"I think my best friend is broken. I need to throw her away."
We both laughed. We headed out of the cafeteria after getting what we came for.
"Girl, trust me. Fred took me to cloud nine yesterday. I wonder where Mr. Johnson took you yesterday?" She said this, rubbing her hand under her chin.
"To the moon," I replied.
"You better give me details," she whispered, her eyes twinkling with excitement.
"You really don't want to know," I said, trying not to blush.
"I'll get you to tell me. You won't get away with it," she laughed.
"Okay, bye," I said as we got to her floor.
"I'm back," I announced as I entered his office.
"Mmm...right on time," he mumbled; he seemed distant.
Placing the snacks on the table, I moved to his side, standing behind him. I moved my hands across his shoulders, giving them a light massage.
"Everything will be fine." I whispered. He seemed to relax a bit.
"Come here," he said, returning to his usual self. I complied, sitting on his laps. "You brighten up my dark world," he said, taking my hand in his.
I picked up the fruit salad and started feeding him. I placed a kiss on his nose after our snacks.
"Just kiss me already," he groaned.
"Nope," I said, packing up the empty containers as I got up.
I felt a smack on my ass, which made me turn abruptly.
"I couldn't help it," he smirked. "You're teasing me with that ass, and my cupcake is getting naughty."
"Daddy!" I pouted.
"So cute," he whispered.
"See you when we close," I said, giving him a quick peck on his lips.
I returned to my desk after leaving his office. The day continued as usual: more clients, more meetings, etc., etc.
Two hours before closing time, Fred came up with May. He went inside after saying hi and leaving May behind.
"I'm back for my gist."
"You're a pain in my ass, May." I laughed.
"Oh, trust me, honey," she said, being sassy as hell, "this is only level one."
"Kill me," I said. Tears were running down my cheeks at this point. "Trust me, May, you really don't want to know."
"Ugh, if you say so, because this journey you guys took to the moon..."
"Stop it," I said, covering my face.
"Sorry to interrupt, ladies. Damian wants to see you, Charlotte. May, let's go pack up for the day." Fred announced his presence, dragging May along.
I found him pacing about in the office when I entered.
"Is everything alright?"
"Yeah, I need you to be home. There will be two to four guards with you and May. Don't wait up on me," he said, hugging me.
"Okay...Damian?"
"Yes cupcake?"
"Please be safe." I hugged him tighter.
There was a long pause before he responded with an okay.
"Are you ready to leave now?"
"Yeah, I'll grab my bag on the way out."
He nodded. He held my hand tight as we made our way to the parking lot. We saw Fred and May there, along with a few men in black.
"Fynn, Patrick, Maxwell, and Sylvester will be with you always." Damian said as we got closer.
"Okay," I said.
The guards stayed behind for further instructions as May and I entered the car. Fynn and Patrick joined us and started the car, moving out as Maxwell and Sylvester were in another car following right behind us. I really hope everything is alright.
"Are we going to make dinner or are we grabbing takeout?" May asked, pulling me out of my trance.
"I don't know; you decide," I said.
"Takeout it is," she said, pulling out her phone.
"You know, we can just grab the food before we get home."
Yeah, right," she nodded.
"Mr Patrick,"
"You can just call me Pat, ma’am," he said with a smile.
"You can call me Charlotte then," I laughed. "Can we make a stop at the restaurant?" I asked.
"Sure, no problem at all." He cheerfully answered.
"I don't remember the Don saying you should pay for the food," Fynn said, giving the cashier his card while I was looking for mine.
"I also don't remember the Don saying you should pay for the food either," I said, rolling my eyes.
"He said make sure she's happy; otherwise, you'll have to explain why there was a single tear in her eye. And I'm not ready to die," Pat laughed. "I'm joking about the dying part, even though it's better off being dead," he continued, still laughing.
"What are you guys laughing about?" May asked, typing away on her phone.
"How one of your legs will break if you don't stop looking on your phone." I said, rolling my eyes again. "Does she know Damian is the Don?" I whispered as May seemed too occupied to listen to us.
"Nope. She doesn't know for now."
"Okay..."
We headed back to the car and left straight for home. In the safety of our home, we had a whole conversation, binge-watched series, and even played games. Though they made sure to cheer me up, May being oblivious, I still missed him. I only hope he's safe.
Damian
"You do realize I don't have a will," Fred said for the seventh time since we left the office.
"And?" I asked; I didn't realize I was speeding again for the seventh time, and I was in no mood for a conversation.
"And I'm not ready to die. I have things to do, weddings to attend, and things," he answered.
"I'm sorry," I sighed.
I don't like meeting my father. He made it point blank from the beginning that he didn't like me and never will. He loved my elder brother, Sebastian. I was an outcast; I never did anything to please him, no matter how hard I tried. How did I become the Don? Well, let's say Sebastian didn't want to be the only one in the mafia, aside from my dad, and insisted I'm also made the Don.
Trust me, I later realized I would have been better off without it. What did I get in the end? In hopes of pleasing my dad, I got a toxic girlfriend, who ended up being my dad's mistress. She made me a monster, and she seems to be the only antidote. That's another reason why I don't like meeting my dad. I don't care about her anymore, but I get out of control, and she seems to be the only one who knows how to tame me. I hate my life.
We get to my dad's mansion. We go inside, then are later led to the hall where everything happens. I see Sebastian, and he gives me a nod of acknowledgement. I returned the nod. We both managed to maintain a healthy relationship despite the different upbringings we received from our father.
The meeting began as everyone was present. Some deals, more information about various investments, and others It's not like my brother and I are interested in the kind of deals he makes. I zoned out, and the next thingheard was is gunshots.
Frederick
Why do these attacks always happen whenever Damian is here? He isn't even frayed by them. He deals with them, becomes something else, and seeks out that stupid bimbo. I don't know how things will turn out this time, and I still don't know why his dad hasn't killed her yet. Everything is cooling down now. Is he bleeding or just covered in blood? I can't tell. I rushed over to his side. Sebastian was trying to get him out of his state of oblivion.
"Damian, are you okay?"
The only word he kept saying was cupcake.
