Third Letter of John: Beloved, do not imitate evil but imitate good. He who does good is of God; He who does evil has not seen God.
Amy walked towards the library, the only place that she could find some peace and quiet without the disturbance of anyone.
As she entered the library, she went towards the window seat and sat down. She could feel the fresh breeze from the window and also mediate peacefully.
Once she pulled a literature book out of her bag to read, her sensee left the real world and she became engrossed in the world of fiction. The book she was reading was named Love is Love. It was really hard to get this book on paperback and once she started reading it, she could not stop.
Meanwhile, at the same time that she entered, another person entered the library and he was drawn towards her immediately. He raised his eyebrows and walked towards her, making sure not to make any sound.
Amy had a slight smile on her lips and her slightly large eyes were extremely focused that she didn't notice him.
"Hi." He greeted and his voice brought Amy out of her reading.
"Oh, hi..." Amy greeted back but trailed off when she realized who she was speaking to. Her eyes slowly widened when black hair and light blue eyes came into sight.
Noah Clement, the richest guy in the school and the most popular one. The Clement family was well known in the country, they deal in a number of different business that range from cosmetics to even food and beverages.
But, why is he speaking to her?
"What are you doing?" Noah asked and sat near Amy who raised her book up.
"Reading."
"I see that." Noah chuckled and asked, "Can I sit here?"
"Sure." Amy replied instantly. Although she had no idea why he wants to sit with her, or why he is even talking to her in the first place, he could still sit anywhere he wants without even asking for permission.
"Can I ask you something? If you don't want to answer me, then it's fine. It's just something that I'm curious about, I promise it's not harmful."
"Well, I'll get to decide if it's harmful or not but go ahead. I'm all ears." Amy was still very rough around the edges, mostly because of all the bullying she had gone through at the hands of people who also came to ask her harmless questions.
She only hoped he would be different and...
"Why did you change?" Noah suddenly asked.
"Huh? What do you mean by that?" Amy raised her eyebrows in question, what does he mean by asking this?
"I mean, why did you change from how you were before to what you are now? Why don't you care about what people say about you now? I heard that you read your Bible everywhere and even tend to speak about your Jesus Christ to people who don't care, why? Aren't you tired to living a boring life?"
Amy could see that Noah was genuinely curious and he wasn't asking this just for the sake of teasing her, he actually wanted to know.
Amy smiled and closed her book. She leaned forward and rested her chin on her palms, swaying slightly to the left.
"Well... Change... Change is something that is bound to happen to everyone, isn't it? All humans change, whether it's good change or even bad change, it's still change, right? As for why I don't care... It's because I'm not ashamed of who I am. Why would I be worried about what people think when I am living the best life I have ever lived? As for my life being boring, I assure you that it is not. I also have a question for you, Noah. What makes life less boring? Partying? Drinking?"
Noah blinked, he looked a bit shocked that I also asked him a question but he still answered, "Exactly. All these things makes life more fun. Removing yourself from the world just for the sake of..."
"You know... I used to think like this back then." Amy cut him off, her eyes were a bit dazed and unfocused.
"Wha..."
"It's already late. I have Bible study this evening and I have to leave now so I'm afraid we won't be able to continue this chat." Amy said as she stood up and picked her bag. Noah peered at her without saying a word, he did not know what to say after she had cut him off like that.
However, as she was about to leave, she turned back to him and smiled.
"To me, partying, drinking, smoking and all those stuff, they didn't make my life more fun... Instead, those habits destroyed everything I worked for. Seeing how you asked me this, you must have heard about my past. Do some thinking on what could have possibly made me stop doing all of those. I'll see you around. Bye." Amy waved at Noah and the latter waved back.
Once she left, Noah's eyes went to be case on the table. It was a case meant for glasses, she must have forgotten them.
He quickly took it and ran outside, but he didn't see her anywhere. Clenching the case in his hands tightly, Noah stared at the road.
Her words ringing in his ears.
"Partying and all of those stuff did not make my life even more fun, rather, it destroyed everything I worked for..."
Chuckling, Noah placed the case inside his pocket and started walking home. His lips parted open as he uttered, "She is right though. I have never been happy even with all those."
