Aubrey rubbed her hands together, still cold, even in the morning sun. Julia stood up holding a delicate flower bud between her thin index finger and thumb, "Okay, here's the last one," she bagged the bulb and looked at Aubrey with a sheepish grin, "I'm sorry I made you do this. Especially the climb, it's just-"

Aubrey cut her off, "Don't apologize. It was really nice of you to save me, not to mention teach me how to survive. Since I...you know." Aubrey said, trailing off regretfully.

Julia put her hand behind her head and her voice took on a slightly morose quality, "I'm still so sorry I had to start turning you. I...you don't have any idea how shitty it makes me feel. I lose so much sleep over it..."

Aubrey couldn't help but smile and crack up, "You said sorry again! I'm gonna have to teach you how to be rude!"

Julia shifted her weight, lowering her small bag from her arm to her hand, "I...sorry..."

Aubrey broke into a laugh, "Stop it!"

Aubrey rested her head on a log, feeling the cool wind brushing over her face. Everything that went down...she felt so overwhelmed. First her parents, then Nithriel, then Lily Cove. She felt like her wounds would never heal...

Julia spoke up next to her just as the wind picked up to a strong gust, "Are you okay? I'm...I know it must be scarier than I can even understand, thinking about your home."

Aubrey smiled; she'd be okay, Julia was always there. She wouldn't lose her.
