Samantha looked at her brother with wide eyes. "Hooper?" She repeated.
Martin furrowed his eyebrows. "Yeah... why?"
She ran her hand down her face. "We went to college together." She sighed.
"Why's that so bad?" He asked.
She gave him a glare. "That's the guy. Remember..."
Martin thought for a moment. "No-."
"The one you dated for two whole years and then got into a huge fight and broke up over something dumb?" Ellen almost laughed, cutting him off.
Samantha nodded. "That would be the one." She looked down, her face already turning red.
Martin suppressed a laugh. "I'm sure you won't even see the man." He shrugged.
She snorted. "Martin... my luck has never been that good. I'm 27 and hiding from a man I used to date in college."
"That is kinda sad."
Samantha hit him in the shoulder. "Prick." She scoffed.
Martin hit her back. "Fan girl."
They continued to banter back and forth until Samantha ended up smacking him on the back of the neck, leaving a red mark.
"Children!" Ellen finally shouted, making the two stop. "Please... you're not five."
Samantha sighed. "He started it."

The word had spread that whoever caught and killed the shark who killed Alex Kinter would be getting $3,000. People from all of the surrounding areas had come out to try and claim it.
The town was absolutely hectic. Martin had talked Samantha into helping him with all the people out at the docks.
"Hey, it looks likes a few more boats just pulled in. Mind going over there and helping them out?" He asked.
Samantha shook her head. "Not at all Marty." She groaned.
Slowly She trudged over to where Martin had pointed and watched as a shorter man with his back turned to her, zipped up some bags.
She walked up to his boat. "Do you need any help?" She asked, trying to sound polite.
"Actually I could use a li- Sam?" The man had turned around and Samantha's eyes widened.
"Matthew... hi." She mumbled, nervously scratching the back of her neck. "Gods it's been a while huh?" She said, taking his hand and helping him out of the boat.
"Yeah! It's nice to see you." He pulled her into a very surprising and very unexpected hug.
"It's nice to see you too." She smiled, actually hugging him back. "You must be looking for Chief Brody." She said.
He pulled away. "Yeah I am actually... how did you know?"
Samantha shrugged. "He's my brother. He told me you were coming in."
Hoopers eyes lit up. "I knew his last name sounded familiar when I spoke to him!"
She laughed. "Yep... he's mine." She slung one of Hoopers bags over her shoulder. "C'mon, I'll get you to Cheify."
The two began to walk to the little shed that was sitting on the dock. Samantha opened the door for him, which he returned by motioning for her to go in first.
"He should be in here in just a second." She sighed, setting Hoopers bag down onto the floor. She pulled herself onto the desk that sat in the corner, dangling her legs around.
"How've you been?" Hooper asked suddenly.
She looked up at him. "Good." She smiled. "Really good actually."
He smiled as well. "I'm really glad to hear that."
Samantha furrowed her brows. How could he act so natural around her? They had left things off horribly. He looked the same. Just a few more gray hairs poking from his beanie.
He was handsome, his smile as charming as ever. Samantha had really never gotten over him. He had been the first man she ever loved.
"How have you been?" She asked after a minute. "Y'know... with Charlette and all."
Charlette was a girl he started dating after they had broken up. They seemed happy and Samantha assumed it would last.
Hooper chuckled. "Yeah... that didn't work out too well."
She tilted her head. "Why not? She seemed like such a nice girl."
"Yeah she did until I found her with another man in our bed." Hooper scoffed, kicking a piece of trash lightly on the floor.
Samantha almost choked. "Oh! I didn't expect that..."
"Neither did I."
The two laughed. Samantha smiled, remembering all the fun the two of them used to have.
She scolded herself in her mind. There was no way she was going to let herself fall back down that whole. He was here to work and so was she. Not to rekindle old flames.
"You look great." Hooper said, awkwardly breaking the silence.
Samantha laughed. "Thanks. You look good too." She gave him a genuine smile. She wasn't lying. "How's work?"
"Really good." He nodded. "You know there's this shark that id love to show y-."
Martin came in, making Hooper cut himself off. "Who's this?" Martin asked.
"You must be Chief Brody." Hooper stepped forward. "I'm Matt Hooper. You called me."
Martin nodded, shaking his hand. He sent an awkward look to his sister. "Well, you two know each other I'm sure." He coughed.
Hooper scratched the back of his head. "Yes... we do."
Martin looked at Samantha who just shook her head. "Right, well just tell me what you need." He clasped his hands together.
"I think it's best if I see the remains of the first victim."
