W.D Gaster was the Royal Scientist before Alphys took over. He has been credited with the creation of the CORE, and was one of the last to succumb to the ILLNESS. He chose to commit suicide rather than become insane, and let his sons see him turn into a monster. It is unknown what happened to Gaster as of this time, but many monsters have reported seeing a strange figure lurking in the darkness.
