Sam's POV:
My eyelids reluctantly flutter opened as I try to squeeze them shut again due to the intense sunlight that poured through our bedroom windows. No, it wasn't actually the sunlight that woke me up, but it was the squeals that tunnelled into my room coming from our villa entrance. My initial instinct is to throw off the covers and hop up to see what the fuss is about, which I decide to follow despite so desperately wanting to fall back into my slumber. But as I'm beginning to move around and gain some momentum to prop myself up, the squeal-culprits enter the room, Mila jumping down onto the bed as she engulfs Kaia in a hug, their bodies crashing on the mattress as I am now very awake.
"Well hello ladies" I'm surprisingly in a good mood despite being woken up like this. It was nice to see Mila reconnect with her best friend, and I was keen to meet her after the non-stop chats about her – she seemed absolutely lovely, and funny, from the things I heard.
"Good morning my loveeee, sorry we just had to wake you" Mila's words are soft yet loud at the same time as I flinch at the volume. "This...is Kaia" she gestures to the woman that had now found her feet and was sitting on the edge of the bed, stretching her arm out as she's introduced. I gladly take it, "and so finally, we meet." I speak up, shaking her hand up and down as we sarcastically act all formal – neither of us were like that at all, in fact Mila definitely is the one who takes that award.
"I've been waitin' for this one" she replies, both of our facial expressions changing to seem like we're mentally plotting all the pranks we could pull on Mila - finally, our joint effort being a major advantage to which Mila's face turns into disbelief as she slaps our hands apart in attempt to stop this. We chuckle at her attempt to stop our fake alliance. The girls jump up, making their way back to the living area.
'Coffee?' Milla mouths to me as she looks back whilst exiting. I nod, adding a silent 'love you' back to her. The girls depart from our villa and head past Kaia's on their coffee run, settling her into her villa that was next to Erin's.
Finally, Mila returns solo, my body still plastered on the bed as I am unable to find the motivation to get up from my position. She enters the room handing me the coffee. I knew she wouldn't be able to help herself in asking "Why haven't you got up yet", to which I simply groan and shade my eyes from the sunlight with my forearm, digging my face into my elbow. She gets the message – 'I can't be bothered, let me rot here'.
My arm falls back to my side consequently allowing me to see again, to which an undressing Mila catches my gaze. This woman played a dangerous game. I simply watch her undress as she stares at me, sipping my coffee. As she reaches for the clasp on her bra, she turns around to face outside, sliding the deck door open and heading the pool. Her cheeky smile didn't help my desire to stay put and rot in bed. My legs kick out from under the douvet as I make my way to the doorframe not wanting to miss this sight. Her eyes slightly look back behind her to catch glimpses of my incessant stare. As she enters the pool down the stairs, my feet walk themselves over to the pool's edge, sitting down with my legs dangling in the water to which she makes her way over to me. Standing between my legs in the pool, Mila places a few kisses on my thighs as her arms lean on them, finally breaking the tense silence questioning "so what's on the agenda today".
"I'm up for whatever. I think Guro mentioned a hike?" I suggest, admiring how she looked between my legs. "Love it. Kaia can meet the girls and I'm sure she'd love a hike" she replies, waddling off towards the edge of the pool that overlooks the horizon. I admire her patient walk over to the edge as she places her arms on it, her head resting onto them as she takes in the horizon. She admires the way that the sun glistens on the rippling water, whilst I simply admire her. Breaking out of this trance, I hop up from the pool water's edge, a breathy "alright, better get ready" leaving my lips as I head back inside to do exactly that: get ready for the hike. She remains still, sending me a kind smile over her shoulder and returning to the view Infront of her.
Mila's POV:
My mind is torn. We only have a couple of days left and then what...I'm back to Melbourne, Sam-less? It was becoming hard to come to terms with, mainly because I never really thought about the end of this all until, I was lying in bed last night with my thoughts – a dangerous situation to be in. I tried to avoid this talk for as long as I could, but I think it might be time. As painful as it would be, both of us need to know with clarity what is going to happen – and I think deep down we both knew what would be best.
The hike was beautiful. Kaia and Gyro instantly hitting it off as little laughs came from them here and there. Sam and I hung at the back of the group with an eager Millie and Erin leading the group. It was always nice to be next to Sam, her comforting hand in mine as we chatted with the others, weaving between the hanging branches that intruded onto our hiking path. Our first stop is a breathtaking view - the rocky shore that overlooked a lighthouse and miles of ocean. There was a heavenly silence as we all take in the view, finally broken by the two leaders signal to keep moving. Before we head off, I turn to Sam as we balance on the rocks. I would stare into her eyes all day if I could. Those round dark brown orbs staring deep into mine. Leaning up to kiss her on my tippy-toes, my foot slightly buckles, Sam of course catching my waist and pulling me close to her in support. She giggles at my clumsy attempt to kiss her as she eventually leans down and places her lips on mine. The intimate moment between us two being interrupted by a camera shutter coming from Kaia's phone, our faces parting as we both sigh out a 'Kaiaaaa'.
"Sorry, I had to" she shrugs, catching up with Guro and the others as we follow behind her. Sam brings my hand that's interlocked with hers up to her lips, placing multiple pecks on it before she lowers it back to her side. A smile paints my face as I look into the other direction, giddy at her loving actions. Funnily enough, Sam ends up posting the photo to her story which I repost [see below/chapter cover photo for reference].
