Initially, my dreams were relatively undisturbed, peaceful even. I was dreaming about getting that car I'd wanted for a year or so now.

Then things got strange.

I was driving my car down a forest road, the cacophony of birds chirping all that could be heard over the soft purr of the car's engine. My surroundings were just like your average forest: trees. Trees absolutely everywhere. It got to the point where the road seemed to be getting narrower every passing second.

After what seemed like years of driving along the empty road, something blocked the road up ahead: a fallen tree.

I got out of my car to inspect the fallen pine tree. It was most definitely too heavy to move, the tree at least 20 times my size. Eventually, I gave up, turning around to get back in my car.

It had vanished.

And now I was left in the never ending wilderness.

Alone.

The sound of birds communicating seemed to have completely die down, and I was left in silence. My brain rapidly searched for answers. All I could remember was that birds would usually go silent when they could sense danger, or if a natural disaster was going to hit.

Suddenly, I heard the snap of a twig from behind me. I whipped my head round in the direction of the noise, but there was nothing there.

Relax Silas, it's probably just a deer or something. Stop being so on edge...

Just then, there was an intense ringing in my ears. I groaned, falling to my knees, covering my hands with my ears in a weak attempt to block out the noise. The ringing slowly transitioned into whispers from all directions, and it got to the point where I thought they were inside my head.

The I woke up.

I was shivering, and dripping with sweat, my breathing heavy.

"Calm down Silas, it was just a nightmare....just a stupid nightmare...."

I checked my watch. It was 1:07am.
Well, I may as well go back to sleep, I thought to myself. As I slipped into sleep again, the whispering came back. I shook it off, my subconscious mind telling me it was just my head playing tricks on me.

My mind eventually slipped into dreamstate again. This time, I was in what seemed to be an old, abandoned mansion or manor of some sort. It was dimly lit, and an eerie silence hung in the air. Me being myself, I decided to explore. Eventually, I ended up in what seemed to be the master bedroom of the house.

Everything looked old and dusty, but then again, that's relatively normal for a place like this.

The thing that piqued my interest was not the vintage paintings hung up, or the elaborate four-poster bed, but the mirror in the corner of the room. As I got close enough to acknowledge the small details, I identified that it must've dated back to the Victorian period at latest, it's design intricate and carefully constructed.

The glass of the mirror was rather dusty. A wiped some of the dust off with my sleeve, my reflection now clear. That was strange.

I could've sworn I read somewhere that you shouldn't be able to see yourself in the reflection of a mirror in a dream...

I jumped, a small cry escaping my throat as I saw a shadowy figure behind me in the reflection of the mirror, observing me from the corner of the room. I felt my heart beginning to pound in my chest, and I was shivering with fear.

Who in the world is that?

I slowly turned around, expecting the worst.

They had vanished.

What. The. Hell.

My nerves slowly started to calm. I was hallucinating, I told myself over and over again. But then again, thus was a dream, so how was this possible?

I turned back to face the mirror, and they were stood right infront of me. I screamed, jumping back in horror.

"Get away from me!"

Whatever it was was wearing a cloak that touched the floor, dragging behind them. I couldn't see his face: it was hidden under the shadow of his hood. I could only see his eyes: they seemed to be a glowing white.

Seriously, this guy could literally be a living shadow.

He advanced towards me, whispering in a language that sounded foreign.

"Please, leave me alone! What are you?"

He stopped in his tracks, standing completely still.

"You belong to Eden, and Eden alone, Silas...

...come home....."
