Adeline Robin Dixon was the youngest of three children.
Her father, Will and mother, Wilhelmina were high school sweethearts who popped out her eldest brother, Merle, when they were still in school which resulted in them dropping out. Twelve years after that, her older brother, Daryl, was born. Then twenty years after the birth of Daryl Dixon, they welcomed their youngest and only girl, Adeline.
A few days after her birth, a fire broke out in their home from their mother's forgotten cigarette resulting in her death.
The family then took residence in a smaller and less kept home; and even though there was still a roof over their heads it never truly felt like home, as it lacked the parental love that every child should feel. But the Dixon child never got that luxury even when their mother was still kicking.
As their father's temper and drinking only increased over the years, she was raised by her brothers who did all they could to shield her from their father's wrath. Well, it was mostly just Daryl.
He took the screams and hits that were meant for her to protect her from what little innocence she had left. He had always thought that what happened to him didn't matter as his life had already been tainted beyond repair by her father's rage. But Adeline didn't think that, her brother was her hero, his life meant everything to her.
Sure Merle wasn't the best to be around and their time together was often spent arguing with each other because of his absurd views on women and people around them ticked her off beyond belief. He used to do it to make her upset but once he realized her anger was turning into hatred he finally stopped his disgusting words but she would rather sit in silence around him still.
She knew that he loved her but he had a funny way of showing it.
When everything seems to be going well in the world a deadly virus takes thousands of lives around the world, leaving life as she knows it in ruins.
No more summer break, no more stops at the ice cream truck, no more all-nighters to finish all of her heaps of homework, no more movie nights with Daryl when her father was on benders and all of the trips to doctor appointments were abruptly stopped.
Now with a new danger to face, Adeline must fight to survive in a man-eat-man world. Literally. She doesn't just have medical bills to worry about or the weird friends Merle would bring over. She had to worry about literal cannibals, dead cannibals. She had to worry about a place to stay and whether or not the people around them could be trusted.
Not just with her stuff, but her life...

I will not be changing Merle's character, he is still an asshole and Adeline will not make excuses for his behaviour, she will hold him accountable for his wrongs. Same with Daryl.
