Across the lake was an island. The two girls stepped on shore, marveling at its pristine sand. On the island was a gorgeous marble mansion, illuminated by the light seeping through cracks in the ceiling. It was magnificent.
As the slowly approchoached the mansion, they realized that it was actually much bigger than they thought. The mahogany wood entrance doors were open, much to their surprise. Curious, the two girls entered the building.
Lily went in first, followed by Evelyn. However, for some mysterious reason, Evy was pushed out.
"It seems that I cannot go in. I will wait for you outside", she said.
Then, Evy removed the silver necklace and handed it to Lily, saying: "Here is my necklace. I hope it will give you at least a bit of hope in moments of despair."
"Thank you. I will join you outside after my visit."
Evelyn smiled. The doors suddenly bolted shut.
Lily was all alone. She had no idea of what and where the many corridors of the mansion would lead her to. She bravely walked into one. There, she saw ten identical doors.
Lily was curious, so she opened the first door, and went in.
