The door opened with a faint creaking sound. As Lily walked in, she noticed that the room was quite empty. The door closed behind her. Lily, wanting to have a source of light (since the room wasn't lit), tried opening the door only to realize that it was locked.
She now was trapped in a space unfamiliar to her with no light to guide her. Lily was terrified. Ever since she was little, she hated dark places. She would always have a night lamp near her bed in case she needed light. Here however, there seemed to be only darkness. Not only that, but she doesn't know the room in detail.
"Great", she thought. "I'm stuck in a room where i have never been before, with no light. Awesome."
Lily tried to stay calm, her nyctophobia (extreme fear of the dark) was overpowering her. She was absolutely terrified.
Lily clutched her friend's necklace tightly. She remembered what Evy told her when she knew about her being the only friend she had. Evelyn told her that she would always be there for her in times of need, no matter how great the distance separating them was.
"I will always be there for you, because you are my friend and I care about you. Always", said Evelyn.
Lily mustered the courage to explore the room a bit. She was still very scared, but the words of her friend gave her courage. It was at first easy for her to bump into things such as shelves, but Lily's eyes gradually got accustomed to the lack of light. She managed to find another door, smaller this time, but made of the same material as the first one.
Lily opened the door, and found herself standing exactly where she was before. She saw that the first door had disappeared. Feeling adventurous, she opened the second one.
