EPILOGUE (3?)

______________ON THE WAY HOME from the case, Spencer and Sophie sat together on the plane. He fell asleep on her shoulder and despite having been with him for longer than a few months, it still managed to make her heart flutter.
She let out a sigh and noticed Rossi giving her knowing looks from across the plane. She rolled her eyes and turned her attention towards the book in her hands. She knew she had to tell Spencer at some point, but Rossi wasn't exactly helping her situation.
Spencer yawned and looked up at her- kissing her on the cheek and returning his head back to her shoulder. Her cheeks flushed slightly and she glanced back up at Rossi, who was grinning widely. She groaned and held her face in her hands.
"What's wrong?" Spencer asked.
"Oh- uh.. nothing." She stammered.
He looked at her curiously, "Your pupils are dilated... do you remember that first day we met?"
Sophie narrowed her eyes, "Vaguely."
Spencer's mouth formed a thin line and she laughed.
"I accused you of having an infatuation with me."
"At that point I didn't."
"Are you sure?" He asked as he wagged his eyebrows.
She scoffed, "Relatively certain."
He looked down sadly and pretended to be hurt by her words.
"Oh, please." She laughed.
Spencer reached for her hand and squeezed it tightly, "What's wrong?"
Sophie sighed, "I just have a lot on my mind."
"I think I uh.." Spencer looked down and gulped.
"What?"
"The way I'm feeling is usually referred to as love, but I would understand if you're not ready for that yet."
Sophie turned to him with widened eyes, "Sorry?"
"I don't understand.."
"I think I may be in love with you, Soph."
Sophie was shocked to hear those words from Spencer, but Rossi was only a few feet away and so was the rest of the team. They already knew most of her business and they didn't need another anecdote for a work party.
"This is really not the place to tell me this, Spencer." She said with disinterest as she flipped a page in her novel.
Sophie's heart raced as she tried to ignore the man who loved her as he sat directly next to her. The warmth that his body brought to hers and the comfort she experienced when he simply laid his head on her shoulder. She had never imagined he would be the first one to confess his feelings, but despite the timing, she was ridiculously happy.

__________________"What the hell was that?" Spencer asked as she opened the door to their apartment.
"What do you mean?" Sophie asked as she pretended to have no idea what he was referring to.
"I told you I loved you, Sophie. And you dismissed it entirely."
"You told me you loved me?" Sophie asked with widened eyes and a grin plastered on her face.
Spencer narrowed his eyes, "While what you're doing may be funny to you- I just told you how I feel about you, and you acted as if I had told you I wanted to go out for coffee."
Regret formed a pit in Sophie's stomach. She really had been rather rude to Spencer. After all, she was so scared to tell him in the first place- that he was forced to do it himself. And now she was making fun of him for it.
She was acting like a complete bitch.
"I'm sorry.."
She walked over to Spencer and rested a hand on his shoulder. He shrugged her off and did his best to ignore her presence. Once he realized that was nearly impossible, he looked down at her with eyes evident of worry.
"Should I have not told you?"
Sophie's eyes widened and her heart twinged with an unfamiliar pain. She had made the only man she had ever loved believe she didn't care for him.
She placed her hands on the back of his neck and pulled his head down, so his face was only inches away from hers. His breath on her face sent shivers down her spine and her emotions felt out of control now that she knew he loved her. Her eyes followed down his face and landed on his mouth.
"Remember that night I was drunk?"
"Yes."
"I really did want to kiss you."
She pressed her lips roughly to his and their tongues moved in unison. She ran her fingers through his hair and his hands trailed down to her waist. They broke away shortly after, and she stared up at him longingly.
"I'm still not sure what this means." He stated obliviously.
"I love you too."
He pulled her in for a hug and she let the warmth absorb her. Even though they had been dating for months, everything he did felt new and exciting. She had hoped for the excitement and spark in their newfound relationship would always feel... new.
She hoped the love they had for each other would never die.
Or... at the very least that he wouldn't turn out to be some sadistic serial killer.
Working for the BAU was really starting to get to her.
