Ok so this totem pole belonged to the indigenous but the Europeans took it in like 1920 and put it in their museum. (All the way back in their home continent) In 2000, the first nation's finally managed to file a lawsuit but kept failing. Then they made a condition. They would hand carve ANOTHER totem pole for the europeans to display in return for the old one. They shipped the new one to the museum, expecting to get the totem pole back in return
