Chelsea slid the tub of ice cream over to me. I nodded my thanks and shoved a spoonful into my mouth. My eyes were blotchy from all of my crying and my breaths were still a little shaky. When I told Chelsea what Kyle did, she instantly called Kriss over. It's been five minutes since Chelsea called her, so Kriss should be over any minute. Just then there was a knock at the door. I heard three pairs of feet racing to get to the door, then it was quickly pulled open.

"Kriss!" Mckell, Chelsea's five year old sister yelled.

I heard Kriss let out a little laugh. "Hey there little one. Where's Lacey and Chelsea?"

"They're in the kitchen, eating ice cweam. They won't let me get any!"

"Aww, that's terrible. We could get you ice cream later, I'm pretty sure that they need it more than you do right now."

"Okay..." Mckell sighed sadly. Chelsea and I quickly dove back into our ice cream, not wanting to be caught eavesdropping. I pretended to laugh at a joke, trying to act normal. I looked up from the tub when Kriss appeared in the doorway. I smiled and she took a seat next to me.
Kriss grabbed a spoon from off the island and dug in. Her eyes wandered over to mine, then gasped when she saw the redness and puffiness she saw.

She lunged at me and swallowed me up in a hug and swayed us back and forth, trying to comfort me. "Lacey, what's wrong?"

"You know, the usual..." I responded.

"Was it Kyle again?"

I silently nodded my head, not able to say a word. Kriss squeezed me harder and patted my back. I don't think that Kriss realizes her strength at times, because she was currently suffocating me.

"Kriss, can't breathe." I coughed and she instantly let go.

"Oh, sorry. And sorry about your brother. Gah, he's such a jerk!"

"Yeah, I don't know how you can deal with it." Chelsea added.

"Well, I've gotten used to it, so it's not that bad."

They eyed me skeptically. "Really? Then why did you show up at my house, scared for your life?"

I gulped nervously, remembering the look in Kyle's eyes. "That's the worst he's ever been," I whispered. "I-I don't know what got into him. One minute he's as nice as can be, then the next, he's yelling at my running skills. I swear that he has anger issues."

They looked at me with pity in their eyes. "We're sorry. What would you like to do? It's your choice tonight, because of Kyle." Chelsea offered.

"Disney marathon." I responded almost immediately.

It's been about two weeks since I've last seen my family. I've been switching between Kriss and Chelsea's house, and at nights, is sneak into my room to get clothes. It was a very tiring process, and my BFF's thought it was time to confront my family. Chelsea and Kriss were parked in front of my house while I slowly made my way to the door. I walked up the steps to the door then stopped.

I raised my fist to knock, then paused and turned to the girls. They saw me hesitate and started shooing their hands at me, mouthing the word "go". I sighed and turned back to the door, thinking over what I was going to say. I nodded my head then nervously knocked on the door. I heard a screech behind me and saw Kriss' car driving away.

"You said that you'd be here for me!" I yelled at the car.

The door flung open and I whipped around to see who it was. Kyle was staring at me in shock, not expecting to see me here. I stared right back at him with the same expression. We stood like that for what seemed like forever, when he did the thing I least expected. Kyle pulled me into a bear hug and stroked my hair.

Tears sprung to my eyes and I hugged him back just as fiercely. Kyle pulled me in even closer, if that was even possible, and I buried my head in the crook of his neck. He put his chin on the top of my head.

"I'm so, so sorry. Please forgive me...I'm sorry." He murmured thickly, almost as if he were crying too.

Tears flowed freely down my face. "It's okay, I forgive you."

I felt him smile. "I love you."

"I love you too." We stood like that for a little while, then he reluctantly let me go.

"Come on, everybody's wanting to see you."

I gulped. "Everybody?"

"Everybody," he confirmed. Kyle walked into the house while I looked back at the street. A car that looked suspiciously like Kriss's stopped in front of my house. They stepped out of the car and my phone buzzed.

Hey, everything ok?

I smiled and waved to the girls, and they gave me a thumbs up. I stepped into the house and shut the door.
