The eternal flame in a final fantasy.

A tale of adventure and flames.

           Aerith's PoV

Tiredly I get up of my bed, I had trouble sleeping last night thinking about the event of last night , Hollow vengeful ghost who prey on special individuals those were the words of the mysterious man from yesterday.

He did not tell me his name but I have the feeling that we will meet again in the future.

" A scar, katana and able to use an inferno of flames in an instant ... " this description reminded me of Zack who used to tell me about his adventures.

I think he once mentionned about someone burning a fire dragon who were supposed to be completely immune to fire.

Flashback starts.

Zack got back from one of his missions as usual I prepare a delicious meal to reward him for a job well done.

To me Zack was an undefeatable hero, able to cut through any danger and protect us from everything.

So when I saw him with a big scar on his head I panicked, he reassured me that everything was alright and I decided to wait once the meal was over to ask him about it.

" Hmmm my scar-? you want to know how I got it? " He asked surprised

I nodded 

" Mhhh alright I'll explain everything that happened , the mission I was assigned to was to kill a fire dragon that was going berserk and destroyed multiple villages. "

he pick up his cup of tea and take a sip.

" Since the power of the dragon was still unclear I had the right to take someone to assist me, before I could make my choice a man named cloud Strife proposed to accompany me."

I kept on listening curiously, knowing that Zack always had trouble going through a story if he was interrupted.

"The name Cloud Strife was very well known in Shinra, he was ridiculously powerful and at multiple times he was asked to join soilder but he never accepted the offer." 

" Really? that's strange why would someone refuse such an offer ? "

As far as I know joining soldier was the best thing that could happen to a mercenary.

" Right?! his achievement were more than impressive and despite not being a SOLDIER he had as much adventages as us, for example he was able to found a team and train handpicked people to follow him he called his team the court squads.
 No one really know what it means but this team that have the most achievment in the recent years, every single members of that team could give us a really difficult fight should we spare against one another. "

He takes another sip of his tea while I was in shock from what I he said.

" Now back to the mission, well the hardest part of it was finding the dragon, he flew all the time and finding a place to corner him was really difficult but after two weeks we did it. "

He pause here like he was hesitating to continue.

"Well I didn't have the time to fight it ... as Cloud charged at him immediatly for the first time I could see this famous warrior fight. and I still have a hard time to believe what I saw, he use a simple katana but it was so sharp that it cut right through the dragon scales..."

my eyes widened at that 

" The dragon surprised managed to whip his tail toward Cloud to get some distance and then he breathed fire toward him ... Cloud didn't get scared and simply cut through the flames while I was in disbelief for the first time in the battle he talked [ My My to think a dragon's fire would be so weak .... ]
What followed was flames coming out of his body ... the heat of those flames were unbelievable, the rocks near him started to melt and I had to get away from him to not get hurt from the heat. "

" The flames kept getting hotter and hotter and I saw something unbelievable, the fire dragon recoiled from the heat of those flames ! then Cloup picked his sword with two hands and cut the dragon in half then his fire consumed the body and turned the dragon into nothingness"

Unbelievable you want me to believe that someone could burn a dragon without the use of materia? Even the strongest fire materia we possess are unable to do such a feat.

Zack semmed to notice what was going on in my mind as he was smiling sheepishly at me.

"Now for the scar ... it's because I couldn' t hold myself back I asked him to spar with me... And I have to admit I was soundly defeated. "

When I processed what he told me I immediatly shift my attention to him in disbelief.

" I know how high you think of me but I'm not lying his sword play is on a different lvl he just outplayed me at every step and in the end I got myself this scar. "

He take his cup of tea and finishes it completely. 

" But there is one thing I'm curious about him for all his strenght there is one peculliar thing that stands out ... It's his scar, he has a similir scars to man but wayyy bigger and I've been wondering for a while ... What kind of things could deal a scar that big to a monster like him.... "

end of flashback.

This memory always stood out for me because Zack called him a monster, never did he ever call someone else like that  which proves how much of an impact their fight had on him, now remembering the story and what happened last night I was certain of who I met last night.

" I wonder if we will see each other again Cloud Strife."

Hello it's been a while, I'm sorry for the short chapter after all those times but this is simply me getting out an old chapter I forgot to post, now I have been waiting a bit to see what would happen on part two of the remake to see where to take the story so please just wait a  bit more for the follow up of this story ! 

I'm not promising a schedule but I will be reuploading on this story from now on not at a regular pace though sorry about that

In the end I would like to apologize for my schedule recently been having stuff to do Irl and that impact my time and will to write so I ended taking an entire month without writing anything at all.
