Maliah hated mornings. It was a well known fact about her and she only woke up if someone forced her to, which is where Embry came in.

Her phone rang so viciously on her nightstand it fell off and crashed to the floor. Maliah woke with a start to the sound of her phone hitting her floor and rolled out of bed to pick it up.

"What?" she asked harshly.

Embry smiled to himself. "Good morning beautiful."

Maliah crawled back into the warmth of her bed, pulling her comforter over top of her head. "I hate you, Embry."

"I'm outside your house with pancakes from Carver's in Forks," he said. "If you hate me that much I guess Quil and I will eat them."

"Did I say I hated you?" Maliah asked, a sweet tone edging in her sleepy voice. "What I meant was, I love you my knight in shining armor who always makes sure I'm awake and fed."

He hung up on her and less than a minute later was standing at the entrance to her room. "You're a horrible liar." Maliah sat up and moved to the side so he could come sit down with the food. She stretched her arms, lifting the hem of his shirt up to reveal her stomach. "You look hot."

Hitting his arm, Maliah shook her head. "You're such a jerk."

"No I mean it."

"I'm seriously going to throw up," Quil said from the doorway. "I still can't believe my best friend and my twin sister are dating."

Maliah leaned over and kissed Embry. When they pulled apart, Embry said, "You have to get used to it at some point. We're not breaking up anytime soon."

Smiling, Maliah looked at her brother. "Come eat."

Quil dropped onto the floor in front of Maliah's bed. It was Saturday and the weather was good, and the group of three was discussing how they should spend their day. Maliah wanted to go to the beach, Embry wanted to go to Port Angeles to see Face Punch which he'd been waiting for since he saw the ad the first time, and Quil wanted to hang out with Jacob.

"It's easy," Embry said. "We go to Jacob's and go to the beach, the four of us go to the beach, and then Port Angeles. Everyone's happy."

Shifting on the bed, Maliah put her head on Embry's shoulder. "I can't wait to take a twenty dollar nap later."

When they finished eating, Maliah kicked them out of her room so she could get dressed. Though the weather was clear, it was still freezing since the sun was tucked away under the cover of the omnipresent clouds. She dressed accordingly in a pair of jeans that were tattered along the bottom hems and a flannel she had stolen from Embry. He was always warm, so Maliah figured if she was cold she could just snuggle into him and she would be fine.

After she was dressed and fought to get her Converse on, Maliah went out to the living room where the boys were waiting. They started the walk to Jacob's house, Embry's arm slung around Maliah's shoulders and Quil walking a foot away from them to avoid the lovey eyes his sister was making at his best friend.

"So, did you guys hear that Jacob has a motorcycle now?" Quil broke the awkward silence that hung between them. "Like he's building one. I heard him on the phone talking about parts."

Embry shook his head and said, "No, but that's dope."

"I didn't hear about the bike but he did tell me that he has a girlfriend," Maliah spoke. "We need more girls in our friend group. And more couples, I feel bad that Em and I make you guys feel single and lonely. And then I have to deal with all your self-loathing about taking Abby to the prom."

"Oh, shut up Maliah. Abby is arguably the best of our cousins. I could be taking Linda. Since I'm stuck with a cousin as my prom date, I would rather it be Abby," her brother scoffed. "But there's no way that idiot has a girlfriend. What do girls see in him?" Quil poked his finger into Embry's arm. "What do girls see in you?"

Maliah snorted. "Quilly, if you don't like me kissing him, you're not going to like the answer to that question."

"Gross."

They stopped in front of Jacob's garage a few moments after and knocked on the door. They heard his voice. "It's just my boys." The small group took that as their cue to enter.

"Hey Jake!" Maliah greeted. Her eyes fell on the pale girl behind Jacob. She recognized her from First Beach a few months prior. Maliah waved at her. "Hey."

Jacob dropped his tool and stood up. "Hey. Guys, this is Bella," Jacob said, taking care of the introductions for them. "Bella this is Quil, Embry, and Maliah."

Quil intently looked at Bella. "I'm Quil Ateara," he introduced. "So the bike building story is true."

Nodding, Bella said, "Yeah, I taught him everything he knows."

"What about the part where you're his girlfriend?" Quil asked bluntly.

Maliah's hand flew to the side, smacking him in the arm. "Dude!" She turned to Bella. "Ignore my brother, he doesn't get out much. Really at all."

The pale girl stuttered for an answer and Jacob's shot a glare in Quil's direction. "No it's okay. We're just friends," Bella finally answered.

"Oooh, burn!" Embry said with a laugh. Maliah smacked his arm too and he looked at her with a mockingly hurt expression on his face. "This is domestic violence."

Jacob shook his head in disbelief that his friends would sell him out in front of Bella like that. He had said that Bella was his girlfriend but he misspoke because he was so wrapped up in what he wanted, he forgot what was actually happening. "Actually, remember, I said she was a friend and a girl."

Embry nudged his girlfriend. "Do you remember him making that distinction?"

"Nope," Quil answered for her.

"So you guys have girlfriends?" Bella asked in return, covering for Jake. "That's awesome."

Embry smiled proudly and pulled Maliah under his arm. "Well I do, but Quil..."

"Quil is taking his cousin to the prom," Jacob said and Maliah giggled in response, making Embry's heart melt just a little bit.

"You want funny, Black? I'll give you funny," Quil said lunging at Jacob. The two boys roughhoused and Maliah and Embry went to stand behind Bella.

Embry laced his fingers with Maliah's. "Five bucks on Quil," he offered both girls.

His girlfriend shook her head. "No way. Quil's too much of a pussy to land a decent hit," she responded. "My money's on Jacob."

"Mine too."
