Adrien didn't leave his room the next day. Or the day after that. Or the next day after that. After his argument with Ladybug, he didn't leave for the entire week. No one in the household seemed to notice Adrien's lack of presence except for his bodyguard who brought him food during mealtime. Nathalie and Gabriel were too busy with their activities to even consider Adrien. He would sob uncontrollably in his room at times and then lay motionless in the next. Plagg looked at him with sympathetic eyes, feeling sorry for his best friend.
"Plagg."
"Hm?"
"Am I a good Chat Noir?"
"Huh?"
"I mean, now that I think about it....I am a jokester easy to intercept....I have nothing...I mean all I can do is cataclysm one thing while everyone has...everything else. And maybe that's why Ladybug treats me how she does. And I yelled at her.."
Tears streamed down his eyes. "Be serious Plagg, why am I still Chat Noir...what makes me so special? I have nothing that makes me different, I have nothing that makes me unique, I know nothing about myself I-"
"Adrien..."
Plagg gently held his face. Adrien looked at Plagg his eyes wet.
"Let me tell you a story.."
He took a deep breath.
"Back in the 1910s, I found myself in Dublin, Ireland, after the Easter Rising. I met a boy named Daniel Bán Kelly, who was only fifteen years old at the time. He was a small and pale child who had lost his mother during birth. He was the youngest of ten children and had a strained relationship with his father. Just like you, he acquired the powers of the black cat by accident and used them to be free and express his inner self. However, he had no ladybug miraculous because it wasn't discovered until the 1960s when Daniel was already 59 years old and had married the owner of the ladybug miraculous in England."
"Going back to his teenage years, he was just like you. He didn't know who he was and struggled to be what others wanted him to be. His father wanted him to be a hardened man, his lover Aoife wanted him to be a romantic soppy lute player-,"
"Lute player?"
"She was into the classics or something.. but his brothers wanted him to be good a sports, his sisters wanted him to be a doll, and his school wanted him to be a future doctor. He faced judgment if his true self came out even for a second. He was known as Cat na hÓiche, which means Cat of the Night, but he didn't know why he should be known as such until that incident happened. That's when he found his true self."
"What was it?" Adrien leaned close to Plagg. But he sighed.
"I cannot reveal what you asked, but I will share a secret with you. Like Daniel, and all the previous holders before him, they all had good hearts and struggled to find themselves. Eventually, they found their true selves. I understand that you are going through a tough time, but I have faith that you will find the answers you seek on your own. Well, not entirely alone, because I will always be here for you. I am not just your Kwami of destruction, I am your friend. I don't say this enough, but I love you Adrien Agreste. You are awesome and I-"
Adrien cut him off with a hug. They stayed silent but it was clear that the bond the two shared was a strong one. Something that Adrien needed. A few moments later his phone rang. Plagg went to look at it and turned to Adrien.
"It's Blythe."
Gabriel was in Nathalie's room, going through the Ladyblog and reading everything multiple times to see if he missed anything important. Nathalie was sitting on her bed, looking at the notes they had taken from Master Fu. She appeared unhappy.
