Chapter Six-An Unending Hunger

"This is the one! This is THE name!" I excitedly declare as I walk along the road, diligently following behind my crow

" I TOLD YOU I ALREADY HAVE-!" I cut him off as I shout out the name I've finally picked

"Gooey! It's cute, simple, and fits you!" I exclaim

"How does that fit me?! That's not my name anyways!" Gooey shouts

"It's decided then! From now on your name shall be Gooey!" I proudly declare

I look ahead up the road and start to see a town appearing in the distance, indicating that we've finally arrived.

"Finally! I'm outta here before I catch anymore of your stupidity!" Gooey says as he starts to fly off as quickly as he can

"See ya later, Gooey!" I smile and wave the bird off as I continue walking

Entering the town, I smile to myself as I look around at the surrounding lights and decorations; a pleasant mixture of food smells fills my senses as I walk about the bustling road. Suddenly, I hear shouting going on from a nearby food stall. Looking over at the source, I see a short, blonde girl with a big ribbon tied on her head that makes it kinda look like she has rabbit ears, shouting at a vendor.

"I am a noble! I rule you people! I should be deserving of a free meal from your pathetic cart!" She exclaims as the vendor tries to calm her down.

I smile to myself and start walking over to the stall, taking some money out of my pocket and putting it on the counter.

"Does this cover the cost, good vendor?" I ask with a smile, to which he nods and takes the money.

Meanwhile, the girl looks at me like I just said the most offensive thing in the world.

"Excuse me?! I don't need the money of a peasant! I'll have you know that I'm a proud member of the Tachibana family!" She then turns around and grumbles to herself as she walks away, "Can't believe I've gotta waste my time in this place because of a stupid demon..." she grumbles.

This immediately catches my attention, I rush up behind her and grab her shoulders, physically turning her around to face me again.

"What the?! Unhand me you-" I cut her off

"You're here for a demon too?! Tell me more! Tell me all the info you've gathered!" I shake her a bit in place, my hands still firmly on her shoulders as my face is inches from her's.

She flushes a bit from the closeness before looking down at my uniform and blade at my side, she then sighs and wiggles her way out of my grip.

"So you're the idiot who's assigned to this case with me...of course you are..." she grumbles to herself as she dusts herself off, "I didn't need backup! Especially from a dirty country bumpkin like you" she huffs and turns back around, swishing her hair a bit dramatically.

As she turns, I myself notice her sword at her hip, the hot pink sheathe contrasting with the pure gold handle and guard. Her uniform was hidden under a deep red modified kimono with patterns of ribbons sprawling all across it. I then loudly gasp, bowing my head so far that it hits the ground.
